"Scared?" I asked her slowly, seeing her avoiding eye contact at all costs."Can you get me out of it?" She spoke quietly.
"Talk to me about this before we move to something else- why does it scare you?" I asked her.
Her eyes moved to my own, she played with the ring on her hand, twirling it lightly.
"I-I can't" She almost whispered.
"Yes you can" I whispered back, moving closer to her.
"There's nothing to be scared of, it's just you and me right now, trust me" I spoke, placing my own hand onto her own, seeing her slowly pull it away.
She shook her head lightly, looking away from me.
I could tell she wanted to talk- she wanted to come unglued
But something was holding her back.
"You haven't ever had any shots?" I asked.
She shook her head, looking to her hands.
"Well that's okay" I spoke quietly.
She looked up to me
"Of course we'll have to get you caught up- but luckily one of my best friends is a General Doctor, it'll be no trouble" I spoke, not able to read the expression her face held as she slowly nodded.
"It's your turn" she mumbled as she went for a piece
Just like that, she was ready to change the subject.
"When I was a medical student I failed a portion of my exams because I refused to be a practice patient" I spoke, seeing her head shoot up to me.
"Practice patient?" She asked slowly.
"Yeah- like the medical students give a diagnosis on a fake illness you make up, depending on the illness they'll actually draw blood, give you sugar shots- and I was not about to be a test dummy for some of those people" I laughed out, seeing a smile on her face.
She watched as I pulled a piece out slowly, setting it onto the top.
"I always wanted a big brother" she spoke quietly.
"Did you have any siblings?" I asked.
She shook her head
"Just me and the dog" she spoke quietly, making me slowly nod.
"Fun fact" I spoke with a smile, seeing her eyes move to my own
"I always wanted a little sister"
