Calum and I immediately exchanged a look.

"What are you remembering?" I asked her, holding her into me tightly.

"I can't" she cried into my chest, slowly starting to try and get away from Calum.

"Mila, Mila- Relax" I spoke, assisting Calum in holding her arm.

"Nothing is happening to you, we're just doing a blood draw, it's nothing more than that" I spoke, feeling her relax after a few moments.

She simply cried into my chest, letting me hold her tightly.

Calum soon pulled the needle out, quickly putting a bandage over it.

"That's all for right now, sweetheart"

Calum left to run the blood to the lab and she slowly sat up, wiping her face.

I watched her- wanting to ask her so many questions.

"Who hurt you?" I asked her quietly.

She shook her head slowly, telling me no.

"Why can't you talk to me about this?" I whispered to her.

"Scared" she spoke simply.

I felt so much sympathy for this kid.

I pulled her into another hug, feeling her hold me back tightly.

"When's the last time you've been hugged?" I asked her, feeling how much she relaxed into my hug.

"I don't even remember"

So I hugged her tighter.

I spent more time talking to her as we waited on Calum to return.

She played with the bandaid on her arm as I reminded her

"It's your turn to share a fact"

"I only like red jolly ranchers" she spoke slowly,  making me immediately look to her harder

"What about the blue ones?" I asked, making her slowly smile

"I'm not personally a fan"

"I'm kinda offended by that" I joked to her, seeing her look to me

"Too bad"

"I'm jealous of Calum's skin tone" I told as my fact, hearing her immediately laugh quietly.

"He's so tan- and I'm so pale, like even during the winter he looks like he's been suntanning- it's not fair" I explained myself.

"I understand completely" she laughed, touching our arms together, showing that we both had the same pale skin.

Her knee shook lightly as she thought about what to say.

"It's lame, but I like to read" she mumbled out.

"What- that's not lame" I laughed to her quickly.

"When I went to school, people called me a nerd because I read books, they think it's lame" and shot to me.

"Who gives a fuck about what anybody thinks?" I laughed to her, seeing her shrug lightly

"Sometimes all you want is to be accepted by the people around you"
