Chapter 8

It didn't take long for me and Damon to change before swiftly arriving at the event, we both helped our selves to the complimentary champagne. Just my presence alone gained shocked glances, the other founding families had a good time pointing and whispering . We were standing outside chatting to each other when I noticed a familiar face, Anna, I nudged Damon subtly and gestured towards the vampire getting the memo he lead me over to her with one hand carrying his glass and the other resting on the small of my back.

"In the running for Miss Mystic Falls?" He questioned jokingly, I liked that about him the most he always had a witty comment or a joke to make even when the moment wasn't right.

"Sometimes you have to wear uncomfortable heels to blend in" She joked back with a smile, despite what Damon had told me about Anna and her Mother there was something about her that I liked. Damon just hummed at her, letting his hand slip from my back as he made his way closer.

"I remember this event from 1864," She paused her reminiscing briefly. "I was supposed to enter before everything happened". There was sadness in her eyes as she finished.

Damon let out a long groan his famous smirk on his face. "Nostalgia's a bitch" He joked, but Anna no longer seemed amused.

"If your just going to mock me can you move along please" She asked finally meeting Damon's gaze with a firm stare. He took this as an opportunity to ask about the device, while John knew of the threat of touching me he didn't doubt that John would try if he didn't get what he wanted. They eventually finished they're conversation and by the look on Damon's face I could tell that he thought he had won, he grabbed my hand and went to lead me away, but I stopped him nudging him forward as a sign for him to go ahead which gained a confused look.

When I turned to Anna she was facing away from us, I stepped next to her causing her to turn to me with a confused look. "I'm sorry about him and I'm sorry you had to miss this in 1846" My words only seemed to shock her more, I gave her shoulder a squeeze of reassurance before turning to go find Damon. I searched for a while, but couldn't find him I made my way outside again thinking to check there one more time before giving up. However, just as I thought he wasn't there either I turned again to go back inside when a familiar person stopped me again standing alone at a table. Jeremy.

While me and Elena had never been close Jeremy and I were the opposite we were really close and spent most of our time growing up together, our parents used to joke that we were joined at the hip we spent so much time together. Quietly, I made my way up behind him and just before I reached him I spoke up. "Now what are you doing out here all by yourself?" He instantly whipped around to face me with a face like he had seen a ghost, but that quickly turned into one of pure happiness as he pulled me in for a hug. We stayed with our arms wrapped around each other for a while and the exchange brought a smile to my face, which stayed even when we pulled away from each other.

"Your finally back" He said more to himself as reassurance that I was actually there in front of him. " When Elena told me and Jenna you were back in town neither of us believed it, she's not happy with you" He chuckled to himself the large grin still on his face, I smirked at the Elena comment.

"When is she ever happy with me" I asked, causing him to chuckle.

"What made you come back?"

"I don't really know just thought it would be time," I replied truthfully. "Plus I missed you" I playfully nudged him causing him to chuckle again, I looked away from him and noticed Uncle John making his way towards us causing me to groan. "Sorry Jer but I've had enough of John for the day so I'll take my leave , but I'll stop by the house to see you soon." I promised before making a quick get away back into the house and saw the staircase, upstairs was the one place that I hadn't checked so I made my way up to the top and left and right. A hand suddenly grabbed my shoulder causing me to turn and I saw Damon holding onto my shoulder a smile on his face, he linked his arm with mine as he lead me down the stairs.

~ Small time skip ~

We were waiting at the bottom of the stairs waiting for Elena's introduction, it didn't take us long to notice the absence of Stefan causing Damon to panic, now that he was on human blood he could be doing anything. It was Elena's turn and there was still no sign of Stefan so thinking quickly I muttered to Damon "Fill in for Stefan, I'll go try and find him" Damon glanced at me unsure, but gave me a nod before joining the escorts as I made my way out of the crowd and towards the main area.

I'd been searching the area for a while now and Damon had come to tell me he was going to search upstairs. I had already searched the back yard when I made my way outside into the parking lot, the sun had set now and deep into the forest I saw a figure running. Without thinking I ran up to her grabbing her stopping her I didn't catch much of her appearance as I was too focused on the large bite mark on her neck that was dripping blood everywhere.

"Hey, what happened?" I tried to get a response out of her, but she was terrified and wouldn't respond to me at all. It didn't take long for me to put two and two together, the girl let out a sudden scream again and started thrashing to get away. I turned only to come face to face with Stefan with blood dripping down his face eyes now black and red with veins sprouting underneath them, my instant reaction was to place the girl behind me blocking her from him as much as possible even though I knew he could easily kill me. The action only seemed to anger him more as he vampire sped to us, thinking he was trying to grab the girl I pushed her to the ground on the right of us, but I was wrong and as his two hands gripped my arms tightly pulling me towards him I knew just how wrong I was.The sudden feeling of teeth ripping into my neck caused me to cry out I tried to get him away from me, but he just kept feeding I started to feel light headed my mind felt fuzzy as I let my body sag in his grip. The sound of two voices seemed to make him stop they sounded familiar, but distant as if I was hearing them through water. My body hit the dirt floor of the forest causing me to let out a groan on impact, there was more sounds around me that I couldn't make out minutes seemed to pass as I just lay there on the floor slowly regaining my senses bit by bit. Suddenly, there was someones hands on me causing me to try and squirm away, but a soft voice stopped me it was one that I recognised instantly. Damon. I was pulled into his body my back to his chest when something was pressed to my lips, a metallic taste suddenly filled my mouth knowing it was his blood I didn't push him away. Slowly, but surely everything came back to me the first thing I saw when my eyes became clear again was his concerned face staring down at me.

"You okay now?" He asked softly, causing me to nod. I turned to look around, but it was too late Damon had already vampire sped me too his car sitting me down in the driving seat before reassuring me he would be back soon. I didn't have time to hold him to his word, just minutes after he left I was out like a light.

I have finally decided that the final lover will be Klaus he just seems like a better fit altogether and he seems like the type of person to be into some very interesting things that Klaus would be into also.
