The Story of Us (JG)

Chapter 3

I checked the clock. 7:45. It was almost time to pick up Kat. I was so excited to hang out with her I could barely contain myself. I was sitting on my bed just thinking about how much fun today would be.

Then Jack walked in with a soda that probably came out of my fridge.

"So is her friend hot?" he asks. I rolled my eyes.

"Because I've totally met her!" I reply sarcastically. "You ready to go?"

"I guess" he replies unsure of what to expect. We hop in my car and I start it up. We drive for about ten minutes before arriving at Kat's house.

A girl at least two years younger than Kat answered the door. "What are you doing here?" she asked in a slightly rude voice.

"I'm here to get Kat and Brinley... Do I have the right house?" I ask.

"Really you're way too hot to be friends with Kat!" just then a slightly embarrassed Kat hurried to the door.

"Taylor stop being so rude!" She exclaimed then turned to me. "Sorry about her, shall we go?"

"Sure!" I said holding my arm out to her. She wrapped her arm around mine and we walked down her driveway. I opened her door letting her in.

"Ooh a gentleman" Kat said sarcastically smiling. I loved that smile and I could tell she liked it that I opened her door despite the sarcastic comment.

We got in the car and Fancy by Iggy Azalea was playing. We all jammed out and I was pleasently surprised when I found out that both Kat and her friend Brinley could rap. Brinley's rapping was a huge surprise considering she was about a solid 5 feet tall extremely pale and had light brown hair. I was not expecting that to come out of her and apparently neither was Jack. I could see his jaw drop in the rear view mirror and so did Kat.

"Close your mouth Jack or you'll catch flies" she said laughing, her friend looked down, thoroughly embarrassed and so did Jack, making Kat laugh even harder and I joined in. Soon we were all laughing and joking around.

Once we'd calmed down a little Brinley spoke up. "So where are we going?"

"Yeah!" Kat joined in. "You never did tell me!"

"Alright, alright! Do you really wanna know?" I replied.

"Yes!" they exclaimed in unison making me laugh.

"Adventureland!" I said once I'd calmed down enough.

"Really?!" Kat asked. "I love theme parks! This is going to be awesome!"

"I don't know..." Brinley said. "I mean roller coasters and tilt-a-whirls really aren't my thing..."

"She's scared of heights, getting dizzy, clowns, falling" Kat interrupts counting on her fingers. "And scorpions, bugs, drowning, anything super fast, horror moves and basically anything even remotely fun."

"Am not!" Brinley replies defiantly. Kat just gives her a look. "Okay, maybe just a little..." Brinley says.

"It's okay" Jack says winking. "I got you" Brinley blushes which makes Kat and I laugh again.

A little while later we arrive at Adventureland. We all pile out of the car and get our hands stamped before walking in. Kat twirls around her arms out. She looks beautiful even if she's just wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

"This is amazing!" she says snapping me out of my daydream.

"Lets go!" she yells excitedly heading for the nearest roller coaster.

"I don't know about this..." Brinley says hesitantly.

"Come with me" Jack says reaching for her hand and leading her towards the carousel a much more manageable ride "We'll work our way up to the scary rides" he says with a wink. She looks at him gratefully and lets him lead her away.

"Lets meet back here for lunch!" I yell before wrapping my arm around Kat's shoulder and speed walking towards the line for whatever roller coaster was closest.
