The next morning I wake up groggy and confused. My arm is slightly sore and I can't move it. I have a momentary rush of panic before I turn to see Kat laying next to me. My heart rate slows and I smile. She is sound asleep and facing me. She looks so peaceful and I hate to wake her.

Lightly I use my other hand to lightly brush the hair out of her face. "Kat, honey. It's time to get up" she grumbles and rolls over making me laugh. I pull her waist into my stomach lightly pressing my lips to her collarbone. "Come on were gonna be late!" I whisper into her ear. She mutters something that sounds like I don't wanna go and I laugh. As quietly as possible I lift myself off of the bed and walk into the kitchen, filling up a cup of ice cold water before tiptoeing back into my room. I get out my phone and click on vine. "Babe will you please get up? For me?" I say pointing my phone at her, and starting to film. "Nooooo" she groans.

"Fine... Just know you're making me do this" I say laughing and pouring the water on her head. She bolts upright almost shrieking as the water rushes down her body.

"Jack Finnegan Gilinsky I am going to kill you" she screams chasing after me as I post the vine.

"You'll have to catch me first" I reply running out the door and down the stairs. She runs after me as I exit the house and run through my back yard. I find my favorite oak tree and climb up a little ways. I look down, breathing heavily to see a very wet Kat glaring up at me.

"Seriously?" she says laughing a little and her tough exterior cracks. She climbs into the tree next to me and pushes my shoulder a little, I lose my balance and nearly fall making us both laugh.

"I'm getting you back for that" she says trying to be serious.

"Sure you are" I reply laughing at how mad she is. We sit there awhile laughing loudly. When we've calmed down she looks into my eye seriously.

"Thank you... for being there and for listening to all of my dumb problems and just everything. I don't know what I'd ever do without you" she trails off getting quieter and looking down at her hands in her lap.

"Hey!" I say lightly pushing her chin up so that she has to look at me "I'm never going to leave you, you know that right?" She slowly nods in agreement and I connect our lips before pulling her into a tight hug. "You are the best thing that's ever happened to me" I hear her whisper as I kiss the top of her head. "And you are the best thing that's ever happened to me" I reply. We sit there for awhile talking before I climb out of the tree. I reach up and grab her waist and she places her hands on my shoulders as I help her out of the tree.

"You do realize were missing school right now" I say as we walk hand in hand back towards my house.

"And you do realize you sound like my mom right now" she replies making us both laugh.

"Fair enough" I reply.

"I just don't think I can handle school today" Kat says quietly her voice slightly cracking. I pull her into my side protectively.

"Okay" I whisper kissing her cheek. "No one said you have to go" I have to get her mind off of this somehow. Suddenly I get an idea, "Lets go swimming!" I exclaim. She nods in excitement and I run upstairs quickly changing into a pair of orange and black swimming trunks and a black muscle tank. I grab my RayBans and fix my hair before walking back downstairs.

We walk back to her house and she changes into her swimming suit while I wait in her family room. Her house is empty for once. Both of her parents are at work and her siblings are all gone to school or daycare.

I cross my legs putting my ankle on my knee and leaning back into her couch. My thoughts keep drifting back to how I'm going to cheer up Kat. It hurts me to see her in so much pain. There has to be something I can- My thoughts are interrupted as I hear footsteps. I look up to see Kat making her way downstairs her sundress flowing around her knees. She notices me checking her out and blushes making me laugh.
