The Story of Us (JG)

Chapter 4

"That was AWESOME!" Kat yelled making me laugh. "Let's ride another!" she said jumping up and down.

"Are you sure?" I asked. This had to be at least our twentieth ride on a roller coaster and I was definitely running out of stamina.

"Well have you puked yet?" she asked.

"No..." I replied knowing exactly where this was going.

"Then clearly it's not time to stop yet!" she said pulling me to another line.

And I thought I was a daredevil. This girl was really something else.

Three more rides on the same roller coaster and I realized it was time for lunch. Thank goodness! I'm pretty sure if I'd gone on one more I would've puked and that probably would not have made a very good first date. I told Kat and we headed back to meet up with Jack and Brinley.

"Hey" I said as we approached them, "What do you wanna eat?"

"Anything is fine with me," Kat said and Jack and Brinley nodded in agreement. We ended up settling on Burger King. I ordered first, then Jack, then Brinley and finally Kat. Before she could grab her money out of her wallet I stepped in front of her and paid the clerk.

"You didn't actually think I'd let you pay for lunch on our first date, did you?" I say smiling down at Kat. She blushes and looks down. Dang she's cute. We sit down at a table and wait for our food. We talk about anything and everything making me laugh so hard I almost pee my pants.

I cross my legs putting my ankle on my knee and wrap my arm around Kat. She smiles at me then continues to eat. And man can she eat.

"I love it how you're not embarrassed to eat in front of me," I say looking at Kat.

"Embarrassed? Why would i be embarrased I mean everyone eats! I am not about to starve and eat a salad just so you think I'm girly!" she replies making the rest of us laugh. We sit there awhile just laughing and enjoying each others company.

Once we finished eating we returned to the park this time all four of us stayed together. After a lot of persuasion and some bribery Kat agreed to start with some slow rides. We started with a haunted house ride. Kat and I shared a car and Jack and Brinley were in another.

As we sat in the car waiting for the ride to start Kat leaned over and whispered into my ear, "If you get scared you can hold my hand," Then she started laughing. There was that laugh again, and I couldn't help but join in.

"Ill keep that in mind" I replied smiling.

"And I won't judge you if you scream,"

"You better not! I might cry like a little girl," I said sarcastically making her laugh again. As the ride started I reached over and laced my fingers through hers.

"You scared Gilinsky?" she whispered. I just laughed quietly. I was extremely conscious of her smaller hand in mine. I was really nervous and a thousand different thoughts ran through my head.

It's summer and its hot. What if my hands sweating?! Stop it Jack! Just enjoy the ride. So I did. I relaxed and just had fun getting scared and squeezing Kat's hand.

It was getting late and the park was going to close. We decided to try and fit in one more ride and we chose the Ferris Wheel. We made it a race and ran to the attraction. It was a close call but I definitely beat her.

"You did not!" she argued. "I definitely won!"

"No way!" I retorted "I made it to the sign first!"

"Whatever" she said. We both burst out laughing.

"We sound like we're five!" I laughed. She just nodded in agreement laughing too hard to say anything.

"You're so stubborn" I say stepping closer to her.

"So are you!" she retorts but doesn't back away.

"I think your fans found us" she whispers gesturing at a group of girls gawking at us and taking pictures.

"Lets give them something to look at" I say with a wink putting my hands on her hips and lifting her up. She puts her hands on my shoulders and we spin around laughing before I finally put her down. I reach for her hand and we walk towards the line.

Kat and I had our own booth and the view was amazing. It was getting dark and the entire park was lit up below us.

"It's beautiful!" Kat whispered almost reverently. I nodded in agreement and wrapped my arm around her shoulders. She put her arms around my waist and laid her head on my chest. I played with her bouncy curls as we talked. Too soon the ride was over and we stepped out. We met up with Jack and Brinley and left the park.

I dropped off Brinley first then Jack before finally reaching Kat's house. I got out, walked around and opened her door before helping her out of the car. She wrapped her arm around mine as I led her up the driveway.

"Tonight was so much fun!" she said.

"Lets do this again sometime," I agreed. She gave me a hug and then kissed me on the cheek before going inside.
