The Story of Us (JG)

Chapter 11

"She's in her room" Kats little brother says after I knock on the door. I walk quickly upstairs before stepping into the open doorway to her bedroom.

"Hey" I say leaning against the doorframe.

"Will you tie my shoe?" She asks. I laugh walking towards her, "You can't tie your own shoes?" I ask as she puts her foot on the tan jeans covering my knee and I begin knotting them.

"Eh, too much effort" she says making us both laugh. I finish tying her shoes and release her foot.

"So... How do I look?" She asks spinning in a small circle. Her turquoise dress falls just above her knees and flows around her legs as her curls cascade gently over her shoulders. Her mustard yellow tights provide a sharp contrast tucked into a pair of black vans.

"Stunning" I reply truthfully.

"Thanks" she blushes "you don't look too bad yourself"
I pretend to brush lint off of the shoulder of my black button up shirt.

"So are you ready to go to the party?" I ask. We're going to a New Years Eve party at Sammy's house and all of my old MAGCONtour friends will be there, I'm so excited for her to meet all of them.

"Yeah!" She replies. "I'm so excited for the new year!"

"Same! I'll race you to the car" I say.

"Oh it's on" she says taking off down the stairs. We race nearly falling and killing one another as we half run half stumble down the staircase.

"I totally won" she says once we reach the car.

"No way I was way faster" I disagree laughing.

"Whatever," she says getting into the car. "If I smell bad it's your fault" she says and we both laugh. We drive for awhile talking and laughing before we reach the party. Instantly Kat and I make a beeline for the food, of course. We eat some light refreshments when I hear a voice coming from across the room.

"JACK!" Nash yells from where he is standing with El, Shawn and another girl I don't know. Kat and I turn around at the same time and wave. I wrap my arm around her waist and we walk over to them.

"Hey guys!" Kat says excitedly once we reach them. "It feels like its been forever"

"Right?" El says.

"We need to hang out soon!" I say addressing the whole group.

"Yeah!" Nash says, "we should all go ice skating or something."

"Yes!" Shawn replies. "That's be so much fun" we all agree and make plans to go the following week.

"So what's up with you two?" El asks gesturing at my arm wrapped around Kat.

"We didn't tell you?" I ask looking at Kat in surprise.

"Guess not" Nash says baffled.

"Oh well um... Basically..." Kat starts.

"Kats my girlfriend" I say using the G-word. She smiles and looks up at me I lean down and press my lips to hers earning a few whistles and some clapping.

"Took you long enough" says Nash making us all laugh.

"So how have you guys been?" Kat asks after we pull away. I wrap my arms around her waist pulling her back against my chest.

"Well El and I are together now" Nash says.

"It's been what 2 months now?" El asks.

"2 months, 1 week and four days but who's counting?" Nash replies kissing her cheek and pulling her waist towards him. She giggles and puts her arm around his waist and leans her head against his chest.
