"нет." -(no.) Mark's voice held conviction as he responded to his general, who was also his father.

"нет?" His father responded mockingly. Mark felt slight fear run down his spine at his father's intense stare.

"ты не можешь наказать ее." (You can't punish her.) He was met with a harsh slap from his father.

"Я не буду наказывать ее тогда, но вы будете." (I won't punish her then, but you will.)

No.

He couldn't. He was tough on the outside but the thought of hurting someone he had grown to care for, killed him. He was already forces to say horrible things to he and Mallory, but what he was being asked to do was inhumane.

"если нет, то я ее убью." (If you don't, then I'll kill her.)

Mark's eyes widened slightly and he felt his heart sink.

He had no choice.

~

He left her in the white room in a pool of her own blood, barely alive. He felt his chest cave and it was the worst he had ever felt, he had never wanted to hurt her this way, but he had no choice.

He never had a choice. He did what he was told, always, never breaking his father's rules and always following his orders. This was different though, he had come to realize that he was a monster.

1983 ~ San Diego, California.

It had been a year since Seven's last slip up, even though she couldn't remember anything, Mark could, and her screams were something that he'll remember forever.

They were currently on a mission, one that they couldn't fail no matter what. Their job was to extract an important file from the building they were currently on top of, and as always, leave no witness.

~

She was on another mission and beside her was her partner, Mallory, the other girl glanced at Seven with the same cold eyes as her own and nodded her head as a signal to kick down the door.

With all of her force she kicked the door down and they were met with two women and three small children, the youngest child had a pencil in his hand and the lead broke the very moment the door was kicked down.

"не оставлять свидетелей." - leave no witnesses.

That was the orders their commander had given them, those were the orders that they followed without question.

The two girls fired their guns killing the other people in the room without warning. Seven walked forward with Mallory covering her, she grabbed the box that way son the table, dropping the drawing the boy was working on, on top of his body.

As she started to pick up the file, a photo dropped out, she picked it up and saw small family of three, a little boy along with a man and a woman. The boy resembled Mark, their mentor, she was confused, but she couldn't dwell on the thought.

"Get down!!!" Mallory screamed, jumping on top of Seven covering her smaller frame, protecting her from the impact of the blast.

A minute passed and Seven coughed as the dust and debris floated throughout the air. Even with her ears ringing she could still feel the dead weight on top of her, Mallory.

"Mallory." She said weakly as she moved the girl's body off of her own.

She started to panic when she realized her partner wasn't waking up. She put her ear to her mouth and realized she was breathing slowly. She tapped Mallory's face a few times for her to wake up.

The girl started to stir and eventually let out coughs of her own, while Seven sighed in release.

"Let's go." Seven said and the two started to get up, but their attempt was cut short when a bullet lodged itself into Mallory.

Seven didn't realize she was screaming, or the fact that the items in the room were raising around her while pressed a shaky hand against Mallory's wound.

"G -go." Mallory stuttered out and seven tried to protest but the other girl ordered her as best as she could.

Seven presses a kiss against her lover's forehead as she started to remember their time together.

"We could run away together. I just need you to get up." Seven said with tears, as Mallory continued to bleed.

"Okay, but you have to go." Mallory forced out, trying to maintain her strength.

"No, I'm not leaving you alone. You're my partner, we fight for them together." Seven kept talking, disregarding the sounds of soldiers making their way up to their location.

"I don't fight for them, I fight for you." Mallory gargled out. "Go."

Seven closed her eyes and used her powered to get back to the facility, with the file in her hand, while blood stained them.

Mallory was dead and it was all because of her.
