Protector (Nalu)

Part 17

-Lucy-

We'd been over the plan, if I needed him I'd yell for him. I went outside, knowing very well I was being followed but kept walking 

??- "Miss."

I turned around, seeing an empty alleyway so naturally my hand went to my keys only to remember I didn't have them, I only had my whip and Natsu was still at the Jade palace, I decided to keep walking and if I needed to I could run. I felt everything spinning a little which made me lean onto the brick wall beside me and touch my head

??- "Miss, I advise you don't run or walk to fast."

I finally noticed the fog on the ground and around me was making me dizzy so I spun around to face him and slammed my whip against his shoulder which threw him back and I fell to my knees, very dizzy. I heard a familiar voice, then ice go past me, the guy dodge and left as the fog lifted and I saw Gray

"Gray?"

He smiled

"you okay Lucy?"

I nodded

"What are you doing here?"

his smile faded

"Girls have been going missing around here so I checked out the place and noticed a fog that wasn't anywhere else so I got closer and saw a girl on her knees. I didn't know it was you, what are you doing here? and without Natsu"

"I went out for a walk...I was hoping one of the guilty guards would follow and I could catch him but who was that man?"

"I don't know...He wasn't a guard that's for sure"

I nodded and bit my thumb, eyes closed while I was thinking, there was fog settling in the castle when we arrived. It's somehow connected to this man? was the man the murderer or a helper.

"Lucy? You should get back. I'll walk with you"

I nodded and walked with him, still thinking and Jumping when a hand touched my back. I looked and saw Natsu

G- "So Pinkie, you left the girl alone and she got attacked?"

N- "HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?!"

L- "GUYS STOP IT"

they both looked at me

L- "I need to think. I'm heading to my room"

I left the two and sat on my bed, back to my own thoughts and started talking to myself

"If that mans connected how? What did this attack mean? The fog in the castle was only settling and the princess was excused because she was a little light headed like I was, what fog was that? why did it have that kind of effect?"

I closed my eyes and laid back

"Luce?"

I sighed and let Natsu in the room, then laid back on my bed

"Luce, whats wrong?"

"That attacker...the fog from day one here...something is strange, he isn't a guard here so how did he follow me from inside the gate Natsu? It's adding up in some corners but he was definanly after me without a doubt. His fog only effected me and not Gray so why is that?"

he sat on my desk and looked at me

"Luce, don't stress it to much okay? We'll figure this out"

I giggled at my pink headed lover and then remembered something on day one

"The maid...."

"what?"

"there was a maid when the fog was dispersing, he took the princess to her room because she was dizzy while no one else was like me with the fog...Natsu I think I just found an accomplice to the murder since he didn't kill me it mean he was WAITING for the real murderer while he made sure I was to weak to fight back. He was surprised when Gray showed up"

he nodded and looked serious

"Luce...I think you're onto something there, if the guy who attacked you truly is him then I think the princess could be in trouble too. You said it makes his targets dizzy right? She was dizzy then so could you both be a target and also..do you think his fog only works on one person at a time"

he brought up a good point

"Lets see. Natsu he won't give up on me if that's the case and I'm a target, if I can keep conscious long enough to get a small glimpse then I will."

he nodded and left the room, when I was sure he was gone I went back outside, dodging being seen  by the guards. I walked to the park and sat on a bench with my eyes closed, I left my whip at home since I didn't think he'd come back to attack me, he probably though Gray was always with me, unless he spied on me. I touched the keys at my side and relaxed a bit, smiling at the thought of Loke finally being happy

??- "Miss Lucy, it isn't safe at night"

I instantly opened my eyes, seeing a figure in the distance and noticed the fog, his hands were faced down

"Who are you?"

he looked up

"You shouldn't be too scared of me, but of who I'll take you too"

I was getting dizzy so I had to do what I had to do

"OPEN! GATE OF THE GIANT CRAB CANCER"

Cancer- "Cancer~Ah"

the man looked angered now and closed his eyes

"CANCER NOW!"

The crab nodded and I heard snipping before I fell on my knees and someone's hand was on my shoulder, I turned my head to see Leo

Leo- "Lucy what happened? We were talking with Cancer then you called on him and you told me you wouldn't"

I looked and saw the crab was gone now which meant I didn't have enough spiritual energy to hold  him here

"I-I'm sorry Loke...I left my whip and wasn't thinking"

The fog wasn't leaving

Leo- "Lucy, what's the matter, you look like you're going to faint"

"There's a man somewhere...Can I ask you the favor of-"

That's when I passed out, without even finishing my sentence and when I woke up Natsu was sitting beside me with Loke in the doorway 

N- "Luce, your awake now...what happened?!"

I touched my head, things were still a bit foggy

Leo- "You fainted was all I know."

"Sorry guys...I know his name now though"

N- "the fog guy?"

I nodded

"His names Hiro. He told me not to fear him but to fear his boss."

Leo- "can you explain to me whats wrong?"

I shook my head no

"Why;d you come? You're supposed to be on your days off Loke..."

He smiled and pat my head

Leo- "Lucy, You don't call on us unless you really need help so when it was Cancer I had to come see why you called for him."

N- "that fog took her energy and made her faint Loke. Someone wants to kill her"

both of them looked angry

Leo- "You mustn't go out alone then Lucy"

I shook my head

"I need to find his master"

he sighed and smiled

Leo- "I have to go now, call me when you need me."

I nodded and watched as he vanished and laid my head on Natsu's chest

"You feel better Luce?"

I nodded and closed my eyes, slowly falling into  his warmth and smell.
