Gary's POV:
That was the cop. The one who almost caught me. He was standing up for Lane. After we thanked him he gave me his number and they went to their car before driving off. I was staying at Lane's again that night. I had been for the past few days, just because I wanted to make sure he was okay. So we headed back, and once we sat down with dinner in hand, about to watch a movie, I texted the cop.
"Who you texting?" Lane asked. I shook my head. "Just some family." He nodded. After we had finished our dinner, I was still texting Rex. Lane laid down with his head on my leg and we watched the movie like that for a while. When the movie was over, Lane had already passed out so I carried him up to his room and put him on his bed. I pulled the blanket over him and went back downstairs before grabbing a beer and going to watch another movie. I sat on the couch for a while but about an hour in, I heard the shattering of glass from upstairs, and went to check what it was.
This is a short chapter but the next one will be out in like twenty minutes. I just had to change POV first
