Lane's POV:
I stood in shock looking at the now shattered mirror. I looked down at my hand and saw the blood dripping from it before walking away from the glass now covering the bathroom tile. Gary came upstairs and took a few minutes to register what had happened. He grabbed my hand, starting to inspect the wound. I shook my head and yanked my hand back. "I'll deal with it." I liked having him around but I could take care of myself you know? I went and grabbed the broom before cleaning up the glass. I went back into my room to see Gary on the bed, with a bottle of rubbing alcohol and bandages. I rolled my eyes and walked over to him. He got some alcohol on a rag and quietly said "This is gonna sting" 'Of course it is it always does' I thought before he ran the rag over my now cut knuckles. I didn't feel anything but that didn't mean anything. I had just gotten used to it, or I was running on adrenaline. He wrapped my hand in the gauze and pulled me into a hug. "Stop doing things that'll get you hurt." I shook my head and mumbled something to myself. He asked me what I said and I repeated myself louder. "Thank you for taking care of me." I went back to muttering and he shook his head. He sighed. "I have a date this Friday" My heart fell into my stomach. I don't understand why I felt sad. My friend was finding love. I'm happy for him. Besides, I don't have a soulmate, and he probably does. "I hope that goes well. As long as you guys get along better than me and that damned mirror You'll be fine."
