When I finally came to, I was in my room at Shikamaru's house. My hair was in a tangled mess next to my head and it felt like there was someone sitting at the end of the bed. I pull myself up feeling achy.
"When do you think she's going to wake up?" someone asked in a worried tone.
"Don't worry so much she's just tired that's all."
I looked at the end of my bed and Shikamaru was asleep as usual but at the edge of my bed and he looked worried. I sat up again and kicked him lightly.
"Shikamaru, are you awake," I asked crawling from under the sheets to where he was.
I got really close and watched him sleeping. The minutes crept slowly as I watched his peaceful sleeping face. After a few moments I closed my eyes for a second and he blew on my nose.
"So you were up?"
"It's kind of hard to stay asleep when you're staring at me so intensely," he laughed opening his eyes.
I watched him as he stretched and sat up with slight worry on his face. He wiped it away after realizing my eyes never left him. As he looked around the room he put his hand on my head a pat me like an animal.
"Shikamaru, is anything wrong?"
"No I don't think so just get up and relax," he smiled taking his hand off my head.
He pulled to a standing position and walked out my door quickly. I sat back on my bed and curled up in a ball looking at all the things that were up there. Shikamaru walked back in and watched me as I sat there I'm the bed. He smiled walking over to my side and reached out his hand to rub my back.
"I'm not a little kid anymore," I mumbled closing my eyes as he drew small circles into my back with his palm.
"The festival is tomorrow," he smiled making the circles bigger.
"When tomorrow?"
"All day sensei said we could go and that we don't have any missions tomorrow."
I slowly opened my eyes one at a time and smiled looking at him. He stopped rubbing my back and brought his hand back to his side.
"Let's get ready then. I'm really excited to go," I said sitting up quickly then stumbling slightly as black spots littered my vision.
"Don't hurt yourself you got to sleep," he smiled putting his hand on my shoulder to keep me close to the bed.
"I slept enough," I grumbled picking at the flowers on the sheets.
"Well, we should probably cook something to eat then. Do you want me to make you some miso soup," he asked getting up to leave.
I looked at him with wide eyes and scrunched up my face saying, "why don't you make some stir-fry."
"You really don't like miso soup," he groaned not touching the door yet.
"You make it with tofu and I don't like it. Can't you just make what I ask and I make the sides?" I pleaded with motions like I was begging.
"Fine I'll make the stir-fry," he sighed opening the door while mumbling rubbish.
Getting out of my bed slowly I walked with him out of the room. Shikamaru just smiled slightly and led me down the hall to the stairs by the kitchen.
"Just make the rice and I'll make the food," he said pulling out all the food he needed to start.
"Fine then can I watch you while you cook," I pouted picking up the rice cooker and carrying it to the counter.
"As long as you sit on the stool and don't ask a lot of questions," he sighed grinning slightly wiggling his eyebrows.
