The search began almost immediately.
Laurance stayed in the office for four days straight, putting in all his energy to find out who the Fox was and, in turn, find Dante. Garroth was by his side, helping out with anything and everything he could.
(Y/N) (L/N). That was their name.
They were only 26, apparently born and raised in the city of Phoenix Drop. They had a languages degree, graduating a year earlier then expected. As far as grades went, they were average. In fact, everything about them was average. Nothing about them stood out, a normal person through and through. There was a substantial amount of confusion on Laurance's part.
"I don't get it!" Laurance exclaimed, leaning back in his chair. He was on his sixth cup of coffee, head spinning and eyes stinging. Dottie had given him all the basic files and information he needed to know about (L/N), wishing him good luck when she left.
Garroth looked up from his computer, where he had the familial history of (L/N) pulled up. "What don't you get?"
"How (Y/N) (L/N) is the Fox," Laurance practically whined, getting up to pour himself another cup of coffee. "Why would someone with a perfectly normal life go around and kill dozens of people? It. Makes. No. Sense!"
"First of all, you know as well as I do that anyone can commit murder if they wanted. Second of all, I think I may have an answer to all your problems." Garroth watched as Laurance immediately straightened up, forgetting all about his coffee as he walked over to the blond's desk.
"What'd you find?"
"Their parents were shot when they were 22. Their father was a lawyer, a pretty damn good one. He'd put a pretty big criminal in jail, real famous case when it actually happened. The guy died two weeks after being in federal prison, natural causes of course. A colleague of his got mad, went out to seek vengeance. He killed Mr. and Mrs. (L/N), he was also apparently aiming to kill (Y/N) as well. He was the first ever victim of the Fox." Garroth turned to look at Laurance, a grin on his face as he ran a hand through his hair. "Coincidence? I think not!"
"You're a fucking godsend Garroth, I swear."
Garroth's face burned pink from the praise. "I just read a few articles, looked at a couple of records. Nothing special, really."
While knowing their name and their history was helpful as all hell, (Y/N) (L/N)'s name was practically nowhere at that point. No purchases were made under their name, nothing at all was associated with their name. Laurance and Garroth searched for any ties, any people they could've been close with.
In the end, it was Aphmau who found a few ties. She approached them with the list early one morning, all smiles and energy.
"Good morning boys, I'm hoping you two actually went home for once." She knew they didn't, if their disheveled hair and clothes were any indication.
"Wish I could say we did," Laurance said, Garroth being too out of it to reply. "You're usually not here this early, what happened?"
Aphmau laughed and took a seat, "Didn't expect you to have my schedule memorized."
"That's not what I-"
"I know, I know." She pulled the paper out of her folder, quickly reading over the quickly scribbled names. "I have some names for you. Friends, coworkers, et cetera. Took me a while to get them all, had to sit through far too many phone calls."
"Seriously?"
"Of course."
"Well, would you mind reading them off?" Garroth piped up, his eyes almost completely shut. He looked about ready to pass out right then and there.
