What (Y/N) does would be best described as a necessary evil.

(Y/N) gives the bad people what they deserve. They kill and damage those that have killed and destroyed others. Corrupt business owners, corrupt politicians, abusers, rapists and just about anyone else who has done wrong. They did what they had to. No one else needed to get hurt. (Y/N) knew that fines and jail time won't change anyone's ways. The only way to get justice was to take the person out, then they'll never be able to hurt anyone.

They do bad things for the greater good, to save humans from themselves. (Y/N) was fine without any recognition. They enjoyed knowing that people spent hours of their life speculating how all of their crimes were connected. To them it was nothing more than a game. Every once in a while, they tried to throw people of their trail. (Y/N) would end up killing someone who had secret, underground crimes that practically no one knew about. The perfect way to get everyone of their back.

All it was was a necessary evil, nothing more and nothing less.

"I'm really enjoying this game of cat and mouse, officers."

(Y/N) sat on the roof of a short building, staring down at Garroth and Dante with a smirk (which the two men couldn't really see). The two had chased the (h/c) haired criminal through winding alleys and back street of the city. All (Y/N) did was steal a couple of jewels, it really was noting compared to what they usually do.

Dante looked at Garroth with a questioning expression, as if asking him what they should do next. (Y/N) was hard to catch, and given their current position, the two wouldn't be able to catch him. Garroth's hand hovered over his two-way radio, contemplating if he should reach out to get even more back-up. Laurence was already on his way with a few others, but who would know how much force was needed to catch this masked menace.

"This isn't really a game," Dante replied, his voice just barely shaking. "You've committed many, many offenses against the law. You need to be taken in." His gun was gripped tightly in his hand, ready for use.

"Stealing something from someone who's stole from so may others isn't that bad, Officer Dante. I'm just righting a wrong." With just a few words, (Y/N) immediately broke the biggest promise they made to themself: keeping the biggest motivation behind these crimes a secret. Even though they were currently mentally berating themselves for what they just did, a certain swell of pride lit up their chest when they saw a flash of knowing in the officers' eyes.

Garroth was perfectly still, any part of him telling him to move instantly silenced. On the other hand, Dante was trying to process this piece of information. It rolled around in his head and it wouldn't leave him be. "Just because someone has done something bad doesn't mean you have the right to steal or kill. It's up to the proper authorities to take care of all that." Garroth had finally regained the ability to speak again.

"It's such a shame that a pretty face like yours had to be ruined by all that bullshit that's leaving your mouth," (Y/N) said, a fake hint of sadness in their voice. Garroth's face flushed red as (Y/N) chuckled to themself, shaking their head. "Since when have the authorities done anything to stop the bad things going on? They don't make a move to help the homeless, rapists are allowed to walk free along with abusers, and almost every big business is either hiding a monopoly, committing fraud, or is filled with corruption! Authority has done absolutely nothing!"

(Y/N) was no longer sitting. They were standing and even though their face was masked, Dante and Garroth could tell they were fuming.

That's when the sirens were finally heard. (Y/N)'s eyes widened. They couldn't believe they let themself forget something so extremely important. Without a second, they took off. Garroth and Dante did their best to follow, but as (Y/N) ran across the many roofs of the city the two knew they wouldn't even come close to catching them.
