A Decision Must Be Made

[Quick little note: Dante's last name is Perez]

Actually enjoying spending time with Dante was not a part of (Y/N)'s plan. They were supposed to get him to trust them and use him to take the police force from the inside. It would be much more difficult to do that since they had begun to care for Dante.

So they decided they'd need a better plan. One that didn't involve breaking Dante's trust.

"Aaron, I need your help."

Aaron looked up from his book, "As always."

The unamused look in (Y/N)'s eyes was enough to get Aaron to stop grinning. "You know how you told me to not get close to Officer Perez? Well I did. So our plan may or may not be going down the drain. We sort of need another option."

"A plan B?"

"Exactly!"

Aaron was good at making plans, it's one of the reasons why (Y/N) holds him in such a high regard. If there was ever a problem they couldn't solve, Aaron would always come up with a solution. (Y/N) was convinced it was a superpower. "Didn't you mention that he told you a few of his doubts or something like that?"

Dante's head was resting on his palm, his eyes focused on the bottles of alcohol stored in the bar. "Can I tell you something?" The music was unbearably loud and the amount of people in the club was certainly a fire hazard at that point.

"Sure, go for it," (Y/N) said, looking at the blue-haired male. It was the second time they got together, about a week after the first.

"Not that long ago I had an..... encounter with someone while at work. And, like, now I don't know if I actually chose the right career." (Y/N) knew what he was talking about. They didn't need to be told what Dante was telling them. The seeds of doubt had been planted. It was time to nourish them and let them grow.

"If you don't really enjoy your job anymore, you should look into some other options. You don't want to live your life unhappily."

"Fair point. I guess I should start searching, huh?"

(Y/N) hid the grin on their face, taking a sip of their drink. "Right now, that's your best course of action."

"If he actually is going to resign, you could probably get him to join us. He'll still have all the intel we need. He's already shown that he's weak willed and easily swayed, it shouldn't really be a problem. Maybe step up the flirting, get him to think that sticking with us would be the only option," Aaron said. He didn't exactly like the idea of (Y/N) flirting with someone else, someone that wasn't him, but he didn't really have a choice.

"I like your thinking, Lycan!" Whenever (Y/N) called Aaron by his last name, it would send a spark of electricity up his back. He couldn't necessarily explain why or how it was any different than (Y/N) calling him by his first name. There was always just a difference.

"Why thank you, (L/N)."

Dante didn't know what to tell Aphmau when he handed her his resignation notice. She was confused, absolutely bewildered. Her eyes showed everything. "Sorry Aph."

"You don't need to apologize, Perez. I just want to know why. I thought you liked it here in the PDPD." Aphmau was petite, with her black hair styled in a bob. Despite her height, she was the most intimidating person in the entirety of the city. When needed, her hazel eyes could shock fear into the heart of anyone she met.

"If it's fine with you, I'd prefer to not share that information."

The concern that was coming from Aphmau was almost tangible. "Is it your brother?" Her voice was quiet and gentle, as if she were talking to an angry child. Aphmau was the only one who knew about what happened to his brother. She's always been making sure he was working through it.
