The Revelation

................................................

Lisa stumbles back until her back hit the wall with a light hiss. She couldn't remove her eyes from the picture in my trembling hand while I couldn't help but stare at the fear in her eyes. With a shaky hand, she slowly points,

"W-where'd you get that?" She asks breathlessly. I wipe my tear off my cheek and narrow my eyes,

"It doesn't matter where I got it! Is this you with my dad Lisa?" I ask with my tone laced with betrayal and confusion. None of this was making sense. My dad knew Lisa? Lisa gulps and averts her eyes to the floor,

"Yes," She whispers causing me to drop the picture to the floor and stumble back as my knees had suddenly felt weak. I gasp lightly as the back of my legs hit the edge of my bed causing me to plop down on it.

"You knew my dad and never told me," I stated in a whisper. I didn't know what to feel. The fact that the woman standing here in front of me had known my father all along and never thought of mentioning it to me. I grit my teeth as Lisa refused to say anything or even meet my eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked. But, again, Lisa refused to say or do anything. I stand up and kick the book to the side causing Lisa to flinch,

"Why didn't you tell me?!" I yell out. And in that same moment Lisa looked up at me with pain in her eyes,

"I-I couldn't," She stammers out. I furrow my eyebrows and clench my fist tightly,

"Why?" I asked. Lisa looks away and combs her fingers through her hair in frustration and huffs,

"I can't say," She firmly says. My heart instantly clenched at the sight of her cold and fearful eyes. But the pain was more of the betrayal and the frustration that she has refused to say anything to me.

"Tell me Lisa," I demand as I took a step forward. Lisa shook her head and looked away from me,

"No," she says causing me to scowl,

"Tell me now!" I angrily say. Lisa clenches her eyes tightly as tears instantly fell from her eyes and began to shake aggressively,

"I said no Jennie!" She yells out as she quickly tries to turn away and make her way out of the room. I quickly rush towards her and gripped onto her wrists stopping her escape,

"Why?! Why can't you tell me!? You've been hiding things from me about my dad and what happened back at sea! You asked us to help you become a human but refused to help yourself! Don't you think you owe me an explanation? Why can't you tell me the damn truth?! Why?!" I tiredly and frustratingly ask. And before I knew it, Lisa had swiftly removed her wrist from my grasp and faced me with tearful eyes,

"Because I promised you!!" She yells out. I widen my eyes and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as we stared at each other, breathing heavily from frustration, confusion and sadness.

"What do you mean you promised me?" I asked. She rubs her face roughly from tears and cries lightly,

"I promised you that I wouldn't remind you of that night," She whispers brokenly.

"What night?! What are you talking about? I never went on the boat with my dad Lisa. Let alone meet you." I frustratingly said. She drops her hands and stares at me with the same pained expression,

"Who do you think took that picture of your dad and I?" She suddenly asks. I furrow my eyebrows even more and gripped onto my hair as nothing was making any sense. That was until something had immediately clicked inside me. I look over at Lisa and narrowed my eyes,
