Another Trip To Greendale

It had been a day since me and Reggie had our little argument , i was busy getting ready for school well i say busy i was currently sat on the couch just scrolling through instagram and slowly eating my breakfast . My phone buzzed and it was a message from Sweetpea .
Sweetpea
You wanna lift to school , ive got the truck
Rosie
Woah your going to school and offering to take me , are you sure this is Sweetpea ?
Sweetpea
Hah hah very funny , be ready in 10 i know what your like and im not waiting around
"Fuck" i say putting my breakfast down and going upstairs to get myself sorted . I quickly showered and cleaned my teeth and threw on some clothes , i heard the horn go on the truck outside .

Hurry up
Rosie
Give me a minute will you
I grabbed all bag and left out of the back door and walk round to the truck parked out of the front . I opened the truck door before jumping in next to him .
"You took your time " he said
"Well when you text me i was eating my breakfast " i say flicking my hair behind my shoulders .
"You just flicked water at me" Sweetpea groaned
"Well i had to wash my hair and if i wasnt being rushed you wouldnt get water on you " i say and purposly flick water in his direction.
"Carter behave " he says
"Yeah alright giant dont speak to me like a child " i say
"You woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning " he said
"Dont i always " i say before grabbing my lighter and lighting myself a ciggarette . While i smoked the two of us sat quietly not speaking to one another until i broke the silence .
"Pea can i ask you something ?" I say making his eyes flick in my direction before going back to the road .
"Shoot "
"Would you ever be with someone that isnt a serpent ?" I ask
"Why ?" He asks me scrunching his eyebrows slightly
"Would you ?"
"Well i dont like most people but i mean serpents just get each other like me and you we both know whats it like to be in the serpents . People that are not in the gang dont really get it " he said to me . I just gave him a nod and went back to looking out the window even though we was pulling into the school car park .
"Why did you ask that ?" He asked
"It doesnt matter " i say about to open the truck door but i was stopped as Sweetpea leant over and stopped me .
"Tell me Carter"
"I just .. " i start to say but cut myself off but he gave me a reassuring nod .
"I dont get why people judge us so quickly Pea , how comes they cant see its like a family . Fair enough sometimes we do some shitty things but most of the time were just protecting our own ."
"Whos been saying stuff to you ?" He asked me
"No one ive just had some time to think " i lie
"Are you okay though ?" He asked me and i gave him a nod .
"We better go in were gonna be late " i say grabbing my stuff and getting out of the truck .
"Carter hold up " he says as he got out of the truck .
"Ill walk you to your class " he says making me look at him confused
"Well i better make sure you turn up to your class " he said to me with a little grin on his face. He led me inside and both of us began to walk down the halls together . I had Chemistry and i was dreading it but Sweetpea seemed to make me forget about that until i reached the door to the class .
"Catch you later " he said before leaving me outside the class . I took a deep breath before grabbing the handle and making my way inside , everyone had already taken their seats .
"Ah Miss Carter you decided to show up " the chemistry teacher says as i walk in making me roll my eyes .
"Take your seat , ill be over in a second " he says to me and i wander over to my seat next to Reggie . I sat myself down and our teacher soon came over .
"Rosie you cant be late to my class " he says and i just nod not saying a word "right youll need to complete activites one to five in the book " he said putting the book down infront of me . He walked away heading to Betty who needed a hand with her work . There was a silence between me and Reggie which felt extremely awkward .
"Rosie listen " i hear him eventually say breaking the silence .
"I dont wanna hear it Reggie , you made everything clear to me that night " i say back .
"You know what ive tried , but your just stubborn "
"Oh im the stubborn one , says the one who cant even look past the fact im a serpent " i say harshly .
"Im not the one cutting people up am i and then getting pissed that i called you out for it "
"I didnt cut anyone up Reggie , how many times do i have to say this before you get it into your head"
"Oh right then thats okay you just held the person down then did you or drive the getaway car which one . Oh hi mom and dad this is Rosie shes a nice girl but in her sparetime she part of a gang that cut people up and drug deal "
"You think i would want to meet your dad anyways , hes a pathetic excuse for a father . Drug deal , youd know all about that wouldnt you . Yeah i have heard that you have jingle jangle dealer , which definately isnt a serpent " i say trying so hard not to raise my voice but our conversation had caused a few heads to turn every so often .
"You know what i was starting to make my mind up on you and i was going to give you a chance , but your so self absorbed that you care more about what people think then what you actually feel ."
"Whatever why dont you go running back to Sweetpea , you serpent slut! " Reggie snapped and everyone had heard . Veronica and Betty looked over at me worridly . Our teacher began to walk over .
"Go fuck yourself ! " i say to Reggie before quickly getting up and leaving the class . As i walked passed our teacher he started calling out my name but i didnt listen , i ran down the hallway and out of the school . I walked all the way back to the southside and i was about to walk past the empty park but instead i decided to go in and sit myself down on a swing . I sat there just replaying what had just happened in my head over and over again , i got out my carton of ciggarettes and lit one for myself . Pherhaps i should have gone to my auntys after all . Eventually i was distracted from my thoughts by a tall figure walking in my direction .
"How did you know i was here ?" I ask him as he took a seat in the swing next to me .
"I didnt , Veronica said you stormed out of class and she was worried sbout you so i went to come find you and here you are " he says shurgging his shoulders.
"She said you and Mantle got in some shit "
"Dont even "
"You need me to beat his ass , you know i can " he laughed but with a hint of seriousness .
"No but thanks for the offer " i say with a little laugh . "Sweetpea i need to tell you something "
"Right go ahead "
"Me and Reggie were arguing because yesterday night he couldnt deal with the fact im a serpent and it got brought up today in class "
"Whats his problem , wait why was you with him yesterday ?"
"Well thats what i had to tell you , since that whole thing with you and that girl me and him started getting on better i guess . Then you know we just started hanging out ."
"Have you slept with him ?" He asked and i could see his knuckles going slightly white from tensing up.
"Yeah "
"Fuck sake "'Sweetpea said as his jaw tensed .
"Have you got feelings for him ?" He asked and i hesitated "honestly .. Yeah i do a little "
"Right " Sweetpea said "if them northside kids couldnt take enough from me already " he said angrily .
"Sweetpea please not right now . You dont understand how hard this has been because you know i have feelings for you , i have been driving myself mad because i didnt know what to do about any of it . Im not used to all of this " i say looking up to him .
"I hate that Kid Rosie i cant stand him but one thing youve got understand is you shouldnt feel bad about being a serpent its in your fucking blood "
"I know " i say and both of us went quiet .
"I dont want all of this to fuck whatever we have up " i admit
"You really think id let that fleabag get in the way of us " he laughs at me "but me and him are having a word " he said getting serious .
"Sweetpea no your not " i say sternly making him roll his eyes .
"What you doing tonight ?" He asked me
"Nothing most likely "
"Were going to greendale then "
"Why ?" I ask
"The fair is on "
"I havent been to the greendale funfair in years , my mom and dad used to take me every year "
"Why did you stop ?" He asks
"Well in case you havent realised Pea ive grown up "
"Well are you sure , you still act like a child " he said making me flip him off.
"Im starving so im going home " i say as i get up from the swing .
"So i threatend to fight mantle and your not gonna offer me back to yours , im offended " he says acting shocked .
"Come on then " i groan
"Not till you ask me " he said firmly sitting in his previous position crossing his arms.
"You are so annoying " i say but couldnt help crack a little smile .
"Get up " i say but he shook his head at me .
"Fine " i groan "Sweetpea do you wanna come round ?" I ask
"If your offering " he said with a smirk as he got up making me punch him in the arm . The two of us went back to my house and went through the back door into the kitchen , instantly Sweetpea went to the fridge .
"Make yourself at home " i say watching him grab snacks from the fridge , i waited for him in the lounge .
"Can you grab me a soda from the fridge ?" I shout out
"Yeah " he said before coming in with my soda and snacks for us both . I turned on the tv and just left whatever channel was already on .
"I know Principal Weatherbee is going to speak to my parents when there back " i groan laying my head back .
"Well you did storm out of class Rosie " he said
"I told him to go fuck himself aswell "
"Oh principal Weatherbee is gonna love that " he said laughing . "Your parents wont be too fussed about it will they "
"You know how chill they are but sometimes with school they can be a bit naggy about it "
"Well were ditching anyway" he says taking a look around.
"I literally dig myself a bigger hole " i say 

Later on that evening the two of us got into the truck so we could go to the funfair .
"Im so excitied you know " i say looking out of the truck window . "My favourite ride was always the ferris wheel , my dad would go on it with me all the time . No matter how many times i asked to go on he would go with me every time . " i say as i smile to myself remembering all the years back.
"I just want a corn dog " Sweetpea said simply making me laugh slightly .
"Its all about the snow cones " i say as he parked up and both of us got out and made our way into the fairground . I got the same exact feeling as i did when i was a child , everything was lit up the colours beaming everywhere , you could hear the carousel and see the children running to it . The sweet smell of cotton candy was overpowering . Everything was literally the same well apart from the fact i was here with Sweetpea .
"I didnt think this would be your kinda scene " i say to him as we walked towards the attractions .
"Its not really but ive only ever been once "
"Youve only ever been once !" I say slightly shocked
"Well Carter look at your parents compared to mine " he said making me go quiet .
"Oh i didnt mean " i say feeling slightly awkward
"Dont worry about it Rosie , you wanna goldfish ?" He asks and i look at him confused until he points to the stall which you could win a pet goldfish .
"Lets get a goldfish " i say . The game was simply milk toss where you knock over milkbottles but you have to knock over all 10 with 3 balls .
"You want a little goldy , all you need to do is knock over the milk bottles . Simple as that ." We paid and he handed me threw balls , after they all were thrown i still had 4 milk bottles still standing .
"You did not just fail that " he says laughing at me
"Like you could do any better " i say crossing my arms
"Oh yeah , just watch me . Take some tips " he said arrogantly . After only 2 throws all the milk bottles were down and he looked at me with a smug smirk on his face .
"Whatever " i say rolling my eyes .
"Well heres your prize " the attendant said handing over our goldfish in a little mini fish tank which would be fine until we put him in something bigger . Sweetpea took him before handing the little tank to me .
"Heres your goldfish " he says
"But you won it "
"Yeah but im giving it to you , its yours"
"What about its ours ?" I say looking at him
"Joint custody sounds okay to me" he said
"But hes gonna live with me " i say
"Now were getting a corn dog " Sweetpea said moving me away from some of the other attractions .

Sweetpea got himself a corn dog and i got myself a snow cone and the two of us found somewhere to sit .
"What you going to call him ?" He asks me
"Whoopie " i say after taking a minute to think
"Whoopie " Sweetpea says knitting his eyebrows together
"Yeah you know , after Whoopie goldberg " i say and he couldnt help but laugh .
"But weve been saying its a boy " he said to me
"Oh well "
The two of us sat eating quietly for a while until i spoke up .
"Thanks for tonight "
"Hold on weve got to go on the ferris wheel as yet " he says making me smile at him . Tonight had meant a lot to me as i had really needed it and Sweetpea had managed to take everything so well and just understand , i know it will be different as soon as we see Reggie but infront of me he was calm .
"Right ferris wheel here we come " i say getting up and Sweetpea took the last bite of his corndog and got up with me . The two of us started walking to the wheel , as were walking i feel Sweetpeas hand slip into mine as we interlocked fingers . We left Whoopie with the Wheel attendant as we got on .
"You know this really doesnt seem as high anymore " i say as we slowly go up .
"This is literally my view all the time " Sweetpea said
"Well you are a giant after all " i had loved this Ferris wheel since i was a child and i can say that i still do now , the passenger may have made it slightly better .

Once we eventually got home i found my old fish tank in the garage and cleaned it all for our new pet .
"You ready Whoopie " i say before releasing him into his new home .
"Where you gonna put it ?" He asks me
"Right here " i say putting him in the corner of the kitchen surface "so when ever your here and raiding our fridge you can see him " i say . I was about to say something to him when we was interupted by one of our phones ringing .
"Its yours " he says as he taps his pockets so i go and find my phone on the couch , the caller id was Aunty Cuckoo .
"Hey Aunty "
"Rosie" she snuffled , instantly from her voice i could tell something was up .
"Whats up ?" I ask slightly worried as my Aunty was never like this
"Rosie love , you need to come here okay as soon as you possibly can "
"Why whats happened ?" I say panicking
"Your Mom and Dad have been in a crash " she says struggling to get her words out . My eyes go wide and i hang up the phone before quickly grabbing my bag and going to rush out of the door .
"Woah Rosie whats happened ?"
"Mom and Dad have been in a crash , well thats what Aunty said on the phone " i say frantically .
"Im coming with you " he said as he quickly followed me out and we got into his truck .
