The beginning

My story starts about a month after my birth. I'm not sure who my birth parents are or when my birthdays is, all I know is that I don't belong.

Let me start from the beginning, or at least what I've been told my beginning is.

It was early one morning when gramps decided to visit the shrine, and a good thing he did. That's where he found me.

He said when he found me I had to be about a month old, I was wrapped in a hand-knitted yellow and pink blanket, with a note written in old script on a torn scroll. Around my neck was a chain with a beautiful skeleton key attached.

Gramps said he didn't know what to make of it or why someone would leave their child alone in some old shrine.

Back to that note, gramps kept it and gave it to me when I was old enough to understand what it was. I bet you're wondering what it said, right?

Hello, my name is Ai! I was born not long ago, my mommy loves me very much and she hopes you'll love me very much too! Mommy wants me to keep this key, she said it'll be important when I'm older! Thank you for looking after me!

I've grown a lot since that day, I start university soon, or at least I'm supposed to. I think I'm going to take some time away from school before I go back, I mean what's the hurry, right?

Tomorrow we'll celebrate my 18th birthday, or the day we picked to be my birthday, since no one actually knows. April 3rd is what I picked when I was around 3. I liked the number 3 when I was younger, It's when I became a big sister. Now I have a baby brother too, although he's not really a baby anymore. Anyway, enough of my babbling!
