(AN: sorry for the short chapter! Any feed back and suggestions would be very helpful as my story continues! Thank you for reading! -Amaya-Chan)
I sat outside of kaedes hut while she explained everything to Kagome and a pouting Inuyasha.
I kept my knees tucked up under my chin and I wastched the villagers rebuild their homes. Wondering to myself if this happens often, no one looked as distraught as I thought they'd be.
Taking a deep breath, I pushed myself to a stand and started walking towards the forest, away from prying eyes.
Once I immersed myself in the shade of the trees, taking a careful look around to make sure no one was watching, I stripped off my skirt and held it in front of me, thoughtfully.
Thinking back to when we fell in through the well, I remembered how my finger nails grew, I remembered that animal like instinct that filled me and I focused on that.
I brought forth the feeling and felt it grip around my heart, begging for more and I promised it that it'd be able to surface more later, at a more secure time.
I watched as my nails extended into long, sharp, claws and felt as my canines grew sharper and longer.
Grinning at the feeling of home that enveloped me, I slashed a hole in the back of my skirt and slid my tails through it as I put it back on my body, it'd do for now.
Looking down at a puddle by my feet, I noticed my pupils were more like slits and the white of my eyes seemed to glow a light amber color.
The markings on my face seemed to melt of my makeup until I was left looking at the purple striped that started under my eyes and ended at my cheeks. I liked it. I liked being able to see the real me, even if I didn't know who or what I was anymore.
I knew one thing for certain and it was that I didn't belong back home, I belonged here because there weren't any demons in the present and that's exactly what I believed I was.
Not sparing a second to think about my rash decision, I turned and started walking deeper into the forest. Not even throwing a glance back to look at the village my little sister resides in, I wouldn't be returning home with her and I knew she'd try to convince me.
I needed answers to questions I haven't even thought of yet and the only was to get those answers was to stay in what seemed to be feudal Japan.
Sorry gramps. Sorry mom. Sorry Sota... sorry Kagome. Thank you for everything.
I thought wistfully and paused, just to make sure I had my key and my fox doll that gramps gave me.
My heart felt heavy as I walked away from my family, I was happy there, wasn't I? But wouldn't I be happier having my questions answered? Who am I? Was my mother still alive? Why did she leave me all those years ago?
Maybe the truth is that I'm not happy. I was satisfied and content for a while, but I was never whole, but I will be one day. I feel it, just like I now feel this power somewhere deep inside me.
Releasing more of the building energy that was screaming to be released, I felt myself get hot and I felt my bones shifting and changing under my skin, until all at once I exploded into a creature with golden fur and three fluffy tails. I was a giant fox. I towered over the forest and could see for miles and it felt electrifying. I could feel this side of me taking over, and I didn't stop it...I welcomed it.
I let my human side fade away as I felt myself running off into the distance. This is where the real adventure begins.
