Once away from the manor, Sesshomaru turned and looked at me.

"If you can't keep your emotions in check, I'm going to keep you away from Rin." He stated, coldly.

"I'm going to take you to the compound now." He added, and glided through the opening of the forest that surrounded his home.

I stared, wide-eyed, where he disappeared.

Pressing my ears flat against my head, I scampered off after him.

"If everyone's dead or gone...why bring me?" I cringed at the emotionless sound of my own voice.

"It was once your home, and I want you to prove who you claim to be." He uttered, glancing at me from the side of his vision.

I furrowed my brows at him, saying nothing in return.

The walk to my old home was filled with a suffocating silence. I opened my mouth, ready to say something, but Sesshomaru short me a sharp look and I snapped my mouth closed.

In the distance I saw large iron gates rising up, on either side tall stone walls shot up.

I held my breath and glanced briefly at Sesshomaru, and said fuck it.

I took off in a full sprint, my inhuman speed bringing me right up to the intricate gates in seconds, Sesshomaru flashing beside me, amused. A yip ripped out of my mouth before I could stop it, I flushed red and turned away so he couldn't see it.

Coughing to try and cover what just happened, I reached and grasped an iron bar and tried to tug the gates open. They didn't budge. I frowned and pulled harder, the gates didn't move a centimeter.

Grumbling, I took a moment to look over the gates, finding a small keyhole in the center. I chewed on my cheek for a moment and slipped my skeleton key out of my pocket. It matched the style and material of the gate.

I pushed it into the hole and like magic it turned itself, letting me and the lord of the west inside.

Turning just to grasp the key in my hands, I trotted off into the small cluster of homes.

My tails poked out, hair bristling. The eerie silence and emptiness spooked me to my core, maybe because I knew my family once resides here.

There were still blood stains dotting the ground, even after all these years. Ignoring the dog demon, I twitched my nose and picked up a stale scent, barely lingering, but I could feel the familiarity of it. I hesitatingly followed it, it getting slightly more overwhelming as I entered a home that had the door busted in.

I waited until my eyes adjusted to the dark before continuing deeper into the house.

I tried taking up every detail, the small bed roll in the corner of the room, close to an empty fireplace. Off on the opposite side of the wall was another small room that held two more bed rolls, underneath the only window. Frowning, I made my way to the one in the main room and kneeled down next to it. Tentatively, I rubbed my fingers over the tattered blanket. It was the same material as my baby blanket.

"Mother..." I whispered as tears started sliding down my cheeks.

I felt a hand come down on my shoulder.

"Welcome home, Ai." Sesshomaru's voice surrounded me.

I shuddered and turned, still on my knees, burying my head in his robes. I sobbed, and surprisingly he let me.

"All-all these years...I thought she just didn't want me." I wailed, throwing myself backwards.

"I just wanted to know the truth..." I sniffled, aggressively rubbing my eyes.

"She gave me up to protect me...it's not fair!" I shrieked. I felt like a child throwing a tantrum, but I couldn't help it.

Sesshomaru knelt down beside me,

"You thought the truth would make you happy. Are you happy?" He prodded at me.

I shook my head and stuck my bottom lip out, pathetically,

"What does it matter to you anyway?" I sniffled and stuck my nose up at him.

"You just met me yesterday." I sniffed again.

"You're wrong." He chuckles and stood, pulling me up as if I weighed nothing.

"You want to know why I suddenly took an interest in you, dear Ai?" He peered down at me with cool eyes, picking up a strand of my golden hair between his claws.

"You see those markings on your forehead?" He twirled me to face the window, staring at our reflections, I nodded, confused.

"Do you see how it resembled mine?" He tapped the crescent moon on his forehead.

I nodded once more, slowly.

"You were born to be my bride." He whispered, leaning down next to my ear.

I froze as I felt his hot breath hit my ear, and then I bolted.

Running as fast as I could, I left the compound, I left the forest, I transformed into my demon form and let myself be carried towards Kaede's village. I needed to get away. This was too much at once. I needed to see Kagome and gramps.
