CHAPTER FIVE: TONY'S PARTY

Most of Olive's time at the tower was spent with Tony and Bruce. She usually just watched them work on Ultron, what it was though, she still had no idea. She was completely clueless, even after hearing Tony explain it at least five times. Needless to say, he was annoyed.

The two scientists have hit quite a few dead ends, but Olive liked their perseverance. They were really set on figuring this out.

They would stay up day and night, working so carefully to get everything right. They had to work quick while they had the sceptre.

At the moment, Tony and Olive were in the lab, as usual, trying to figure it out. "What did we miss?" Tony asked, as Olive looked at the sceptre.

"I'll continue to run variations on the interface." JARVIS replied. "But you should probably prepare for your guests." He added, "I'll notify you if there are any developments."

"Thanks, buddy." Tony nodded.

"Enjoy yourselves." JARVIS said to the two.

"I always do." Tony smiled, while he started packing up. "Come on, we have a party to catch." Tony said, holding his hand out for her to hold. She stared at it hesitantly, thinking of what Pietro and Wanda would think about her becoming friends with the man, before she took it and walked with the billionaire to her room.

When Olive entered her small room, which was given to her for the time being, she noticed a small black dress on the bed, along with some black flats. Tony had closed the door behind her as he went to his own room while Olive gaped at the dress. Curiously, she walked over to it and lifted the dress with a small smile, gasping as a note fell off the bed when she did.

"Hm?" She took the note, and unfolded it.

"I got you this dress for the party, if you decided to go." Olive smiled, as the note was signed by Natasha. The two girls had talked on many occasions now, but Olive figured that their friendship was getting nowhere since Natasha was a little bit more closed off.

This incredibly nice gesture proved her wrong.

Olive smiled at the dress, happily slipping it on. She walked over to the mirror, twirling in the dress with a small smile. They never had dresses like this in Sokovia. The little things matter.

The girl rushed out of her room and knocked on Tony's door after taking a look at her outfit. She decided staying with him would be best, given that she knew him the best. Spending a few days with him in the lab was a good bonding experience.

Oh, Wanda and Pietro are gonna kill me.

"Tony!" She called, hearing ruffling on the other side of the door.

"Coming." He called back. Eventually, when he opened the door to reveal himself, he was in a black tux. "Hey, you ready?" He asked with a smug smile on his face. Tony Stark loves parties. Especially his own.

"Yup. Let's go." She said holding out her hand to hold Tony's. He gladly took it as they walked down to the party.

The party had music playing, and was filled with people who were either chatting, dancing or drinking. "Whoa." Olive mumbled. "I've never been to a party before."

The atmosphere felt euphoric. A wave of relief washed over her as she realized that she would be far from losing control today. She would be able to feed off of the happiness that was surrounding her.

"Never?" Tony asked, tilting his head slightly. He looked shocked at the comment, before he quickly recovered and pointed ahead of him. "Well, let's make your first a good one then, yeah?"

"Okay." The girl replied, a smile appeared on her face as the two began to walk forwards.

"But you know, the suit can take the weight, right?" Rhodey told a story, or, a War Machine story, as he liked to call it. The two briefly met before he began to tell it. Thor and Tony just listened, unimpressed, while Maria Hill stood off to the side with a drink in hand. "So, I take the tank, fly it right up to the generals palace, drop it at his feet. I'm like 'boom. You looking for this?'."

Silence followed after that, causing Rhodey to furrow his brows. "'Boom. Are you looking for...' why do I even talk to you guys? Everyone else that story kills."

"That's the whole story?" Thor questioned, his brows furrowed in confusion.

"Yeah," Rhodey shrugged. "It's a War Machine story."

"Oh," Thor suddenly chuckled, quickly trying to brighten the mood. "It's very good, then." Rhodey rolled his eyes at his friend's behaviour. "It's impressive."

"Quality save." Rhodey mumbled in a sarcastic tone. "So, no Pepper? She's not coming?" He turned to Tony.

"No." Tony shrugged softly, a drink now in hand. Olive's hands were empty as she decided not to drink anything, much to Tony's dismay. He wanted the girl to have a drink or two at her very first party, because he said she needed 'the full experience'. She wasn't letting peer pressure get the better of her.

"What about Jane? Where are the ladies, gentlemen." Maria questioned while looking to Thor, then the others.

"Oh, Miss. Potts has a company to run." Tony bragged subtly.

"Oh no." Olive mumbled as she leaned against the bar next to them.

"Yes, I'm not even sure what country Jane's in. Her work on the convergence has made her the worlds foremost astronomer." Thor smiled proudly.

Olive hummed, "Okay, that's actually pretty cool." She mumbled, causing Thor's smile to widen.

"And the company that Pepper runs is the largest tech conglomerate on earth. It's pretty exciting." Tony shrugged casually as he sent Olive a look. She only rolled her eyes in response.

"There's even talk of Jane getting a, uhm, Nobel Prize." Thor added, waving his drink around. Impressive.

"Yeah, they must be busy because they'd hate missing you guys get together." Maria said sarcastically. Suddenly, she faked a cough, "Testosterone."

"Oh, my goodness." Rhodey went along with Maria's joke, faking concern. Olive had to bite her lip to hold in her laugh at the two.

"Excuse me." Maria said.

"Want a lozenge?" Rhodey asked as the two walked off leaving just Thor, Tony and Ellie as they laughed.

There was a few moments of silence before Thor spoke up, leaning over to Tony as he looked around at the party. "But Jane's better." He mumbled.

"Sure she is." Olive rolled her eyes at the two.
