CHAPTER TEN: A SAFE HOUSE
Olive's eyes shot wide open, her head pounding. Her peripheral vision was washed over with red, but she paid no mind as she let it slowly fade away. Her eyes desperately flicked around the Quinjet for a source of light. When they landed on a screen that sat in front of Tony, with Maria Hill on it (given that the two were on a video call), she instantly calmed down.
"The news is loving you guys." Maria's voice rang out, sounding far louder than it was in the silent jet. Olive's head pounded more at the sound. "Nobody else is."
Olive glanced to her left, her eyes falling to an exhausted looking Bruce who had wrapped himself in a blanket. "Are you ok?" He asked, upon noticing her eyes on him.
Olive nodded, "yeah, I think so." She lied. What she meant was, I will be. "Are you?"
"For now." He replied simply. Olive nodded before looking around the room.
Everyone looked... lost. They were stuck in a daze, unable to shake away the visions that Wanda had plagued into their minds. Wanda. Olive couldn't believe that she would do something like this to her. The team? Sure, it made sense. But she never expected her own sister to send her mind-splitting nightmares before walking off without a second thought.
She did, however, notice the guilt in Wanda's eyes. She held onto that for dear life. That meant a lot to Olive. Hopefully Wanda found her way crawling back to the side of good, and brought Pietro with her.
Hours had passed, and Olive had been up the entire time. The headache was far too bad to go to sleep, so instead she passed the time by talking to Clint while he flew the jet. He was an overall nice guy, and she found herself growing to like him even more.
When they finally lowered to the ground, Olive could see a house. It wasn't anything special, just a house that she would honestly die for. It looked peaceful. Peace was something so new to Olive, something that she had been craving for a long time.
Olive helped Clint shake everyone awake. Bruce grumbled softly under his breath about needing more sleep, so Olive promised that he could get some soon after hopping off the jet. Once everyone was up and ready, they made their way over to the front porch. Olive didn't question their choice of landing, as she was too excited to do so.
The sun shone brightly, and the birds chirped happily. It was a farmhouse, that much was clear. She loved it. Clint seemed to notice her wandering eyes, and smiled softly, though she was unaware of his amusement.
"What is this place?" Thor asked, glancing around as they reached the front door.
Tony shrugged, "safe house."
"Let's hope." Clint answered, helping a dazed Natasha walk as he opened the door. "Honey? I'm home!" He called out, his eyes darting around the new room. The others followed close behind.
Olive could hear footsteps coming their way, causing her to turn her head to see the new person more clearly. A woman walked in, holding some things that Olive didn't care to examine. Surprisingly, the woman was pregnant. Olive smiled softly at her.
"Hi. Company. Sorry, didn't call ahead." Clint muttered, leaning down to give his girlfriend a quick kiss and a hug.
"This is an agent of some kind." Tony muttered, squinting his eyes at the woman before looking over to Olive.
