CHAPTER FIFTEEN: YOU ARE AN AVENGER
"Stark, you worry about bringing the city back down safely." Steve ordered, "the rest of us have one job, tear these things apart." Olive found herself running through the city, her eyes scanning the area for anyone she knew. She felt strangely unsafe by herself-but not because of something Ultron might do, because of something she might do. "You get hurt, hurt them back. You get killed... walk it off."
Olive's eyes grew wide, relief filling her at the sight of Clint and Wanda fighting side by side. She quickly joined them, fighting any robots that came their way.
Wanda noticed a nearby Sokovian, and wasted no time in helping them get to safety. However, she wasn't aware of one of the robots crashing down at an alarming speed, heading straight for her. "Wanda, look out!" Olive's voice came out in a raw scream, her eyes wide in terror. Wanda looked up at the last second, narrowly avoiding the danger as she sent the robot flying in another direction. When the robot finally hit the ground, it exploded, catching fire.
"Go, go, go!" Clint led the Maximoffs away, shoving them through a window to an abandoned building. Wanda shakily got to her hands and knees, crawling towards a wall as she muttered words under her breath.
"How could I let this happen?" Wanda's voice was so soft, Olive almost didn't hear it.
"Hey, hey, you okay?" Clint turned to face the Maximoffs. Olive didn't answer, too focused on Wanda who looked close to breaking down into tears.
"This is all our fault."
"Hey, look at me." Clint insisted, "it's your fault, it's everyone's fault. Who cares? Are you up for this? Are you? Look, I just need to know. Because the city is flying. Okay. Look, the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense."
Clint was interrupted by a robot blasting holes into the wall next to them, causing Wanda to cower away with a small cry. Olive nearly jumped out of her skin, but Clint had it covered. He lined up an arrow through the hole with his bow, shooting one of the robots with ease before turning to Wanda.
"But I'm going back out there because it's my job. Okay? And I can't do my job and babysit. It doesn't matter what you did or what you were. If you go out there, you fight, and you fight to kill. Stay in here, you're good. I'll send your brother to come find you." Clint looked to Olive as a way to let her know that if she wanted to back out now, she could. She was new to this too. "But if you step out that door, you are an Avenger."
Clint let that sink in for a moment before rising to his feet. He made his way to the closest door, and huffed, hyping himself up for the fight outside. "All right, good chat." He inhaled, "yeah, the city is flying." He held his bow and arrow tightly in hand before kicking the door behind him and heading back into the fight.
Olive looked back to Wanda, who was already watching her with wary eyes. She knew why Wanda was hesitant immediately; she had been a terrible sister. But in a fight like this, that didn't matter. They were either on each other's side, or they weren't. Their argument would have to wait.
Olive inhaled deeply, her lips drawing into a thin line before she nodded. "Ready?" Wanda paused before nodding back at her, ready to follow her lead. "Let's go then." She decided.
