Chapter 4

Soda's POV

When we hopped into Darry's truck it was about a 20 minute drive from the house before we seen six Socs surrounding someone that was laying on the ground. My instincts immediately told me that it was Hailey.

"Guys their attackin' Hailey!" I screamed. Everybody jumped out of the truck and started beating the Socs but I ran towards Hailey. I picked her up ad saw that she was covered in bruises and blood, her clothes were also shredded. Oh my poor baby sister. I know I shouldn't be thinkin' that cause she doesn't know but I can't help it! No matter what she will always be my little sister who is 2 years younger then me. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard a soft murmur, I looked down at Hailey and heard her whisper "Some family reunion huh?" At that I had to chuckle. By then the boys were all back at the truck, by the time we got there I placed Hailey in first then I crawled in. I placed her head in my lap and we were off driving back home to fix Hailey up. I looked down into her bright green eyes and smiled down at her. Out of no where she sucked in a shallow breath it kinda sounded like a breath of pain then she blacked out.

"Hurry! She just blacked out!" I cried.

"Ok we're almost there kiddo hang on." Darry replied but I didn't know if he was talking to me or Hailey...

We finally arrived at the house and I got out of the car and carried Hailey in bridal style. Steve and Johnny were sitting on the couch and Two-bit was on the floor but as soon as they saw Hailey's motionless in my arms they jumped up. Steve ran to the kitchen to get wet cloth while Johnny rushed to the bathroom to get the first aid kit. While Two-bit just went to sit in the armchair to watch Mickey Mouse. Wow real help he is! The rest of the gang came in just as Johnny came back with the first aid kit. I started cleaning Hailey up and she started stirring then those beautiful green eyes fluttered open.

Hailey's POV

I opened my eyes to see 7 pairs staring up at me! I screamed. Then I noticed one pair of eyes similar to mine but there was just a hint of brown I'm them. "S-soda?!" I didn't know where I was but I felt comfortable. "Yeah doll it's me!" He replied. I smile crept onto my face knowing that he was here now I knew everything would be alright. The next pair of eyes I met were a pair of cold icy blue sparkling eyes. I gazed into them and they stared back at me. "Hey Dally." I managed to say breaking the eye contact. "Hey to you to baby girl." He said with a smile. When he called me that I always got shivers. Even though everybody in the gang calls me that it seems special when he says it. I tried to sit up when a wave of pain washed over me and I fell back down onto what I'm guessing was the couch. I felt strong hands support the small of my back and push me up into a sitting position. I looked up to see who had helped me when I was met with the same blue eyes I was mesmerized with before. "Careful sweetheart your ribs are bruised so you will probably be a bit sore for a couple of days." Dally informed me. "Ok thanks Dal." I responded. "Man we gotta have a rumble now to show those Socs not to mess with baby Curtis over here." Two-bit exclaimed while proudly playing with his switch blade. He would do anything to have a rumble. I looked around the place and realized I was at the Curtis house, I don't know why I didn't realize it before because it hasn't changed at all since the last time I was here. I was disrupted from looking around when Johnny and Pony came over to me. "Hey Hail, Pony, Dally and I are going to the Dingo and to the Nightly Double, you wanna come?" Johnny asked. "Sure! When are we leaving?!" I haven't been to the Dingo in a while and I've been craving their chocolate milkshakes! Before Johnny could reply,

Dally budded in and said "Now." When he say my facial expression he added "But you could get changed first!" Oh thank The Lord because I was still wearing the clothes or should I say shreds that I was in when the Socs jumped me.

Soda brought me upstairs to show me the room that I would be staying in. We walked down the hall and he stopped infront of a door which I assume would be my room. "Listen Hailey, it's not much." He looked down at his shoes as is ashamed. "Oh Soda it doesn't matter! What matters is that I'm here, with my family." I hit him playfully on the arm. He looked up and gave me his dazzling smile. He opened the door and ushered me in.
