Chapter 10

Soda's POV

When Two-Bit basically called my little sister hot, I wanted to beat him. Luckily I didn't have to, because before I knew what was happening Hailey had slapped him across the face! The whole gang started cracking up, Dally even fell to the ground. My sister has some great come backs!

Steve's POV

I was really surprised when the little missy jumped off the roof! I didn't think she would. And then when she slapped Two-Bit, DAMN!

Johnny's POV

It's always cool when Hailey jumps off the roof she looks so free and elegant like a little sparrow flying with the wind beneath it's wings. When all the comments and questions started it was funny to see everybody so shocked, but when Two-Bit said Hailey was hot, that was a different story. Pony and I looked at Dally straight away to see his reaction, as I had suspected, he looked like he wanted to kill Two-Bit. Then when Hailey leant up to "kiss" Two, the kill factor was washed away and replaced with hurt. Then when she smacked him, he was so happy!

Two-Bit's POV

Yeah yeah I know I deserved it. But dang she is hot when she is angry. I bet she's just playing hard to get! She totally wants me!

Dally's POV

I have to admit when Hailey was about to jump off of the roof my heart stopped in fear. Then, when Two-Bit said it was hot, anger took over the fear. I wanted to murder him. Nobody, except Ponyboy and Johnny, knows the way I feel about Hailey, so I couldn't show it. When Hailey went to kiss Two, I realized she didn't and probably never will, like me the way I like her. I started walkin' away cause I couldn't stand to see what was about to happen. Then I heard a sound that got my attention, I turned around and saw Hailey lowering her hand. I looked up at Two-Bit's face and saw a red hand print! She slapped him! That a girl. Hailey said something to Two but I couldn't make out what she said because I was on the ground laughing. So maybe I do have a shot with her after all.

Hailey's POV

Now my hand hurts.

Once I got to my room I chose a lime green crop top that said 'I'm to good for you, sorry.' with a frowney face and paired it with a pair of black shorts. I decided to put on my pink flip-flops. I thought it would be appropriate considering what just happened with Two-Bit! I threw my hair into a fast high ponytail and applied some clear lip gloss. I walked downstairs to find the gang sitting in the living room watching tv. Once Soda saw me he smirked, I'm guessing he read my shirt, and called out Two.

"Look Two she wore that shirt, just for you!" The whole gang looked up and once they read my shirt started to crack up, everyone but Two-Bit. I snickered and walked into the kitchen. I felt like having a piece of chocolate cake so I went to the ice-box but there was none! I looked for eggs but there were none of those either! These fat pigs don't know how to replace stuff? Obviously I'm joking. I walked back into the living room. "Well we have no chocolate cake!" Everybody stopped what they were doing and their attention went to me, even Dally. "And we have no eggs, so I can't make any!" I heard a chorus of disappointed 'aws' then Soda spoke out. "But I love your chocolate cake!" He cried. "Well I could always go to the store and buy more?" I said as if it were a question. This time a heard a chorus of excited 'yahoos'. From everyone except Darry and Dally. At the same time Darry said "Not alone." And Dally said "You're not going by yourself." Everybody raised an eyebrow at Dally but he just flipped them off. "Okay Hailey, you can go. But, Dally is going with you." Said Darry. Does he think I have a problem with Dally coming with me? If he does, he is very very wrong.

We were walking down the aisles of the supermarket when something caught my eye. I strolled over to the display case and grabbed a copy of 'Gone With The Wind' hard cover edition. Pony will love this! I put it in the cart. Once we got everything we needed to make the cake, we went to the cash. It was a Sunday at 12:30 so it wasn't really busy, actually no one was in line for the cashes. The cashier was on her phone talking to someone, she had an annoying voice. She had her back turn to us so from what I could see she had long, straight black hair that was as dark as night. She turned around and gave me an annoyed look. Wow I'm getting those a lot lately! But when she saw Dally, she hung up the phone and unbuttoned her shirt to show her cleavage. Typical. Surprisingly Dally didn't even notice. That brought a smile to my face. The girl checked all of our items the bagged them and she 'accidentally' slipped a piece of paper into the bag. I'm guessing it's her number. Dal took the bag for me and we stared to walk out the doors, suddenly he stopped. "Wait here a minute, please?" I nodded my head and he ran back to the cashier, talking the bag with him. Once he got to the cash he took the paper out of the bag an gave it back to the girl. I couldn't hear what he said but I did see an angry look wash over the girl's face. Then Dally ran back over to me. "What did you say to get her so mad?" I asked curiously. "Oh I just said 'miss I think you dropped this in our bag, the right thing to do you'd be to return it to you. So here you are.'" I bursted out laughing. "Why would you turn her down? She's like an 8.5 on your 'scale'!" I demanded, playfully. "Cause there is already this girl I really like, for along time actually, and she is a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10. She broke the scale!" Wow. In all the time that I've known Dallas Winston, no one has ever come close to breaking the scale. I wonder who this girl is. Probably some really skinny blonde that he met at Bucks. "No it's not some blonde I met at Buck's." I looked up confused. Then it hit me, I spoke out loud! Shit! Dally started chuckling. "What's so funny Winston?" I demanded, again playfully! "You. You're so clueless!" He continued to laugh. I started to walk faster to get away from him but he grabbed my wrist. "Hailey, stop. You're so clueless but that's what makes you cute. And when you get angry and wiggle your nose, that's adorable. The girl who broke my scale is not some blonde I met at Buck's place. It's a girl who I've known almost half my life, a girl who knows everything about me, even the things I don't know about myself, she is my bestfriend."

He looked me dead in the eyes and said "Hailey, the girl that broke my scale, is you."

Hey guys! I'm sorry I didn't post this weekend but my little brother came back from his dad's house to see me an our mom, I don't really get to see him so I wanted to spend some time with him! I hope you understand! But here it is chapter 10!!! What did you think?! Do you think it will work between Hailey and Dally?! Or do you think Dally will be a total jerk and get back to his old ways.
