Becca sat at the bar having a breather and a diet coke while her friend danced slightly drunkenly with a tall, blonde cutie. Viv had been drowning her sorrows all evening and was now at the stupid drunk stage, hence the reason that Becca had switched to soft drinks to keep an eye on her. Ella had been showing her support by matching Viv drink for drink, so she was pretty far gone too.

She smiled down at her phone as the message came through. This was the third time today that they'd talked. If it was any other guy, she'd think they liked her. Hell, she'd know they liked her. But with him it was so much more complicated. Yes, there were a lot of messages, but was it gentle flirting? Or just friendly banter? She had no idea.
I wish I could just ask him.
She sighed, and contented herself with sending a funny meme instead.

She chuckled to herself as she sent it. Miss Piggy is so funny and badass.
Maybe I should be more like her - she wouldn't be scared of asking a guy if he liked her. Actually, Miss Piggy would just assume that he liked her because she's so fabulous.

She laughed out loud, causing a few people to look at her curiously.

Incoming call from Chris

Was it a good idea to be talking to him? She'd had a few drinks, and while she was nowhere near drunk, her filters were down. Way down. Oh, what the hell.

Becca

Why all the Miss Piggy pictures?

Becca
Because I think she's funny, and I'm trying to be more like Miss Piggy tonight

Chris
In what way?

Becca
I'm trying to be fearless like her

Chris
Why do you need to be fearless? I thought you were in a bar? Oh God, you're not about to do karaoke are you?

Becca
<Laughing> No. No one needs to hear me sing

Chris
Shame. I would have come down there to listen to that

Out of the corner of her eye she watched as Viv and the cutie danced closer together, arms around each other. It was almost time to pull Viv out of there before she did something that she would regret.

Becca
I wouldn't put you through the torture

Chris
You don't like to sing?

Becca
I loooove to sing. But loving it and being good at it are two different things.

Chris
I bet you're not as bad all that

Becca
As bad as all that, and then some

<Laughing>

It feels like flirting. It really does. Very gentle flirting maybe, but still.
She could do this, she could ask him.

Chris
So how drunk are you?

Becca
Not very, I stopped after a few drinks to keep watch over Viv - she's drowning her sorrows

Chris
Boyfriend trouble again?

Becca
Yeah

There was a slight pause in the conversation. Go on, do it. Ask. She took a deep breath.

Becca
Chris?

Chris
Yes?

Becca
Why are you calling me?

Chris
Well, I'd liked finding out you last night and I'd hoped that we could carry on-

Becca
No, I mean why are you calling me?

Chris
Umm...I don't really understand-

Becca
You could probably call any woman in the world. Why are you calling me?

There she'd said it. She glanced over at Viv, who suddenly looked very pale.

Chris
Isn't it obvious?

Becca
No

Chris
Because I lik-

She watched as Viv threw up all over the cutie she was dancing with.

Becca
OH SHIT!! Sorry Chris I've got to go

Chris
What's going on, is everything okay?

Becca
Yeah. I'll call you back in a bit.
