Becca was just putting her second batch of cookies in the oven when her phone rang.
'Can you see who that is Viv, my hands are filthy.' She said.
'It says Chris.' Viv said, sounding awed. 'Is that THE Chris?'
Becca nodded. 'Yeah, can you put him on speakerphone please?'

Becca
Hi. I should warn you that Viv's put you on speakerphone for me because my hands are too covered with cookie mixture to hold my phone

<Laughing> Okay. Is Viv still there?

Becca
Yes

Hi Viv

Viv's eyes widened, but she didn't respond until Becca gave her a nudge

So, Becs, why are you covered in cookie mix exactly?

Becca
I'm baking cookies and I'm kind of a messy cook

I love cookies

Everyone loves cookies. It's like a universal thing

Triple chocolate

That sounds amazing. I might have to drop by and steal one

<Laughing> Ha. I don't think so. I plan on eating all these cookies myself

I didn't know that you could cook

Yeah, well I find it very relaxing. Plus I love to eat, so, you know

Chris laughed and the sound made a little shiver run through her.

So, I was thinking...we still need to arrange that deciding game. Can't leave it at 2:2

Viv grabbed a piece of paper from the counter and scribbled He's asking you out again!
Becca rolled her eyes and wrote back Not a date. Then she underlined 'not' twice.

No, I suppose we can't. Did you have something in mind?

How do you feel about bowling?

Becca
As in ten-pin bowling?

Chris

I love bowling

Do you fancy going?

Becca
What, just the two of us?

Yeah, it could be the decider.

She hesitated, wondering how to say 'no' without hurting his feelings.

No, it's not that, it's just...I've always thought that bowling is much more fun as a group game. Bowling with two people isn't quite the same

Oh...okay. Well, I bowl with some of the guys on Sunday nights when I can. We're going this week - why don't you join us?

Oh no, I couldn't do that
