The not-so-suicidal jumper || Chapter 18- Asylum escape

--Maddy's POV--

"Get up! Get up!" A loud voice yelled from outside my door.

I got up uncomfortably and threw on an oversized black jumper and dark jeans.

"I'm coming," I yawned and the guard stopped me. "Not you. Your coming this way."

I watched all of the other mental patients walking the other way stare at me.

I followed the guard towards the front office, and I frowned when another guard came behind us with my suitcase.

"What's happening?" I asked and the person at the front desk shook her head.

"I'm still not sure, this has never happened before. The man who put you in here requested to take you out."

The policemen stumbled through the door looking very flustered. "Uh, yes. She's leaving."

"Okay, just make sure you keep her out of trouble," the lady said and crossed my name off the patient list. The officer led me outside, and my friends all engulfed me in a hug and pat the policemen on the back. He shivered and fast walked away.

"What did you guys do?" I smiled and Emma grinned evilly.

"We may have threatened the poor guy to get you out of there." I high fived them and we quickly left before anyone realised they had been tricked.

"Was it really bad in there?" Jack asked and I nodded.

"Yeah kinda, the rooms were small and the cafeterias were weirdly shaped. It made staying away from the bad people incredibly hard," I said and they laughed as I made an uncomfortable face.

We arrived back at the abandoned house that we went to after we left Mary-Annes, since going back to her house was too much of a risk.

We walked inside and I raised my eyebrow and turned to Jack when I saw the brunette girl from the plane sitting on the sofa.

Jack shrugged and I put on a fake genuine smile.

"Hi I'm Maddy, you must be that girl Jacks really into?" I tried to act flattering and she smiled politely.

"Yeah, I guess I am. My names Meghan." I shook her hand and I sat opposite her. Carter went beside me and Emma left to the kitchen. Jack sat beside Meghan.

"So tell me about you. What does Meghan like?" I asked and she chuckled, her elbow length brown hair bouncing around her shoulders.

"Um, well I'm not very interesting, but I professionally dance, I'm vegetarian and I've got quite a large family, with a total of fifteen children and teens, and twenty-two adults. I adore animals probably more than humans." Jack pouted and she turned to him.

"Aww Jacky, only more than some people!"

Jack grabbed her face and smashed their lips together, and she pulled away laughing and with red cheeks. "Not in public Jack."

He picked her up and ran to his bedroom, and I almost gaged at the thought of what they might be about to do. I looked at Carter and I could tell he was thinking the same thing.

Emma skipped out with pizza in her hand and she plopped down on the other side of me.

"What did I miss?" She tilted her head to the side and I shrugged.

"Just Meghan telling me about herself, then Jack and her getting lovey dovey, and then them leaving to fuck."

Emma laughed and laid back. "For once I actually don't regret leaving."

I got up to get changed into denim short shorts, fluffy slippers and a purple sweater.

I walked back in and Meghan looked at me.

"Ooh Maddy! I hope you don't mind but I invited my brother over. I already asked Jack and he's alright with it," she squealed and I shrugged, biting my lip.

"Yeah I don't mind," I said truthfully. She jumped away just as the door rang. A blonde haired guy stepped in and my mouth dropped. I guess it was true when he said he would see me again.

"Maddy!?" His eyes widened and I smiled politely.

"Uh, hello!"

Meghan looked from me to him, and her eyebrow scrunched up in confusion.

"You know each other?"

"Yeah."

I grinned sheepishly at Max when I remembered how I danced over him at the club that night. He obviously was re-playing that memory too when he smirked and let him eyes roam down my body.

"I thought you were hot in a dress, but even with a sweater on you still are smoking!"

Meghan coughed awkwardly and scurried away. Max walked closer so we weren't very far apart.

"You still single?" He asked and I was going to say yes, until I realised that I was awkwardly uncomfortable with him standing like this.

"Um, no I'm not!" I rolled my eyes at my desperate voice and his eyebrow raised.

"Really? Who."

My eyes spotted Carter and I ran over to him and pulled him off the couch. I shrugged his arm around me.

"Carter's my boyfriend!" I said sheepishly and Carter squinted his eyes at me.

Max nodded. "Alright, but that looked a little fake. Kiss and I'll leave you alone," he grinned and I looked at Carter.

Sure, we've kissed before but this is different. He still likes me.

I smacked my lips onto his and he responded immediately without any control.

I pulled away and Max nodded before walking into the room Meghan had left into. Carter turned around and touched his lips before sadly walking away.

"Carter!" I yelled after him. He faced me again, his face laced with confusion.

"I'm so sorry."

He gave me a small reassuring smile. "Don't worry about it."

I sat back down with Emma.

"Was that a stupid thing to do?"

"Yes."

"Is there any way to fix it?"

"No."

I sighed and rested my head on my knees.

"Life is just so difficult you know?"
