I trained with Philip for most of the day. When everyone was too exhausted to even stand they called it quits on the training for the day. That wasn't until after 2pm. For the rest of the afternoon we had to do studies. A lot of students passed out at their desks. After dinner which was dead silent. We aren't allowed to speak at dinner time. We have to eat in silence. After having a hot shower in the communal bathrooms I dragged myself upstairs to the black quarters. I can't say tower because it not a tower. It's a floor. Blue is on the bottom floor. Then red on the second. Green on the third and black on the fourth. Each floor consists of 50 of the small rooms lined up on one side. There is no real restriction on other ranks moving between the floors. That's because their form of common room is above the black floor. And it's really only used on the weekend as I found out. I went to their once. There is a pool table and books. Even a large 80 inch television. Which is used on the weekends as well. Reaching the black floor I bumped into someone I groaned a bit form the sore muscles in my body before looking up at Ryker who looked at me alarmed as he held a carton of beer under one arm had a duffle bag full of chips and junk food. A DVD case hung from his mouth. First blood. A Rambo movie. I reached up and took the DVD case from his mouth so he could talk.
"You can come watch the movie if you don't tell anyone." He said sounding concerned.
"Who still uses DVD?" I asked him raising my eyebrow at him
"We have limited resources." He said acting offended. I rolled my eyes.
"It's called illegal downloading onto a portable hard drive to use while at the academy." I said "I have two teribites of movies that you can plug into the USB section of the tv and watch whatever you like." I offered
"Obviously not for free so what do you want for it?" He asked me. I looked at him
"Turn a blind eye and remove the guard detail form the gate tonight. I need to do some research to close it." I said simply. He just looked at me. "I won't let a demon get past me. I just need uninterrupted time in there." I added and he gave a slight nod.
"Yeah whatever. Not like I care about the school." He said like it was nothing which confuses me "for all I can the place can go to hell.@ he muttered
"The only thing wrong with this place is your father." I pointed out before walking to my room which was only the fifth door down I opened it up going to the desk pulling out the hard drive handing it to him by placing it in the bag along with the movie.
"After curfew is in affect you can go to the seal room. We will still be upstairs." I looked at Ryker
"We who?" I asked him
"Philip Kyle victor jack and myself. We get privileges because we are so highly ranked." He said boasting about it. I just gave a slight nod.
"I'll come hang out until curfew." I said putting my things away. Ryker looked around my room.
"It's very clean." He stated.
"So?" I asked
"Never seen someone's room so clean before." He added
"I have only been here a couple days." I pointed out as I walked out closing my door. He nodded and headed upstairs to the I'm going to call it a game room because that's what it feels like. The common room back at my academy we use for studying and planing. Just general hanging out space it's always got someone in it. There common room here isn't used as much and it's just got a game room vibe to it.
"Whats he doing here?!" Victor yelled at Ryker
"Bribery." Ryker said flatly putting everything down. "I was caught and we came to an agreement." Ryker added before looking at the hard drive in his hands. I rolled my eyes taking it plunging it into the tv. I took the remove and turned it on before selecting the hard drive and then tossed it to whoever was quick enough to catch it. Which was Kyle. He caught it and started flicking through the movies. I just sat down on a beanbag away from them slightly. Grim came up to and half laid over me his head and front legs on my lap.
"What's with that thing?" Jack asked. I looked at him
"He's a church grim dog." I said simply
"I read about them. They are ghosts of dogs that guard church ground. Help the dead cross over and protect their remains from grave robbers." Ryker said looking at grim.
"Yeah." I said simply. "hes more commonly knowns as a grim dog or a black dog. Which are omens of death. I found it fitting as an angel of death to have a companion that's an omen of death." I said amused before I was offered a beer I refused
"Legal drinking age is 18 here." Kyle said
"Nothing like that." I said simply "I'm just not in the mood for drinking not after the day I have had." I said as I slumped back in my chair.
"Which is exactly why we are drinking." Victor said raising his beer and taking a drink. I just shook my head but said nothing more. I didn't need to explain myself to them. I looked at Grim as he laid there with his eyes closed.
"What's with all the news reports?" I heard Kyle asked. I looked at him for a moment
"Supernatural sightings. I keep them on file just Incase." I said softly
"Just Incase of what?" Victor asked "you planning to expose us with them clippings" He added is disgust like he actually expected me to do that. But then again every single clipping is about me and how I gave up trying to keep myself hidden from the world.
"More of tying to find out who is exposing themselves to the world." I lied looking up at them. It was now I noticed they were all shirtless and wearing only boxer shorts. Slightly embarrassed I looked back at Grim patting his head. A movie was selected and when I looked up it was the new Men in Black movie. A bag of chips were thrown at me and hit me in the side of the head. I looked up at Kyle who throw the chips at me.
"Just relax and get comfortable. Us higher ranked guys get more privileges like not having to abide by curfew." He said amused.
"Thanks but no thanks I have a lot on my mind." I said tossing the bag back to him
"Jesus just unwind. It's not like you have to worry about not passing the benchmark." Ryker said and the others laughed now
"Is that your problem. Scared about getting you ass kicked again." Victor teased.
"Maybe he liked it. Having a guy take charge like that." Jack taunted me with the fact I openly admitted to being gay. They laughed but Philip didn't. He looked a little concerned.
"So when are you going to hit puberty Tyler? I mean you voice and hight still says that of a child. Or are you going to need testosterone supplements?" Kyle teased. I looked at them now
"I'm not the one who's afraid of a girl." I said harshly and they stopped instantly
"Gemini isn't a girl she's a fucking lunatic." Victor snapped at me "she deserves to be locked up." He added
"Don't talk about her like that!" Kyle yelled getting to his feet. "She cares about the safety of the creatures our There. All she does is try and protect them! She never wanted to be the way she is. She just wanted to be a human and study the supernatural!" Kyle yelled as he defended me
"Oh how dare I insult your perfect sister." Victor said acting all girly and being sarcastic. "Well at least I still have my balls! I swear you offered your balls to her on a silver platter just to make sure she didn't hurt you!" Victor yelled
"I do not!" Kyle yelled back "She is my twin sister. She wanted to make things right with me and that's when I realised she wasn't a bad person like everyone said." It when silent but the tension between them two make the room feel colder.
"Maybe you two should cool off now." Jack said stepping between them before he looked at me "don't mention their fear of Gemini again. There is too much conflict regarding her that it's just Better you don't bring it up" he Added. I just have a slight nod. Kyle glared at me now. I got to my feet before he said anything.
"You got a problem or something?" Kyle asked me. I looked at him "you act like you are in control of everything. You have no respect for authority and you always have something to say." He said harshly.
"I'll put it in simple words." I said looking at him annoyed. "I'm here to fix your demon problem. I do not care about your education. I'm just playing the part until my job is done. I took advantage of the fact you have spy's in the school to assess your curriculum."
"Then why not say so?" Ryker asked obviously annoyed now
"The fact anyone outside your school knows about it would have put your headmaster into a panic. I have to shut this down quickly and quietly. I have until your spies report back to their own headmasters otherwise this becomes a public problem and your school will be shut down." I said before I turned to leave "grim." I said when he didn't follow.
"You are a bad lier." Kyle said. I stopped walking looking at him. "As someone who claims to be gay. You get awkward around a group of males who are either half naked or are naked. Obviously we worked out you are one of the spies and a female. And since gemini has guard detail and no one else at the mixes school has any power equal to yours we came to the conclusion you are from the girls school and we guess Olivia." Kyle said.
"So What are you really doing?" Ryker asked. I couldn't help the smirk that touched my lips.
"I'm not Olivia. She couldn't fly like I can."
"She can use magic. Air magic to manipulate herself." Jake said "that became obvious when you countered Philip's Fire magic with air." He states and I gave a slight nod
"That would be true." I said before I grinned. "But Olivia wishes she was half as good as me." I added amused. "I'm telling the truth. Yes Gemini I was supposes to be here and taking this glamour form but I asked her to trade places with me so I could fix the gate. It is all I care about." I explained with a more convincing tone and they bought it.
"So we don't have to worry about you reporting my father?" Ryker asked I looked at him. I couldn't tell if he wanted his father reported or not. He is so hard for me to read.
"If he hits me again there will be problems." I said annoyed glaring at him for no reason. "I have work to do." I said before leaving the room.
