I used my hand to wipe the steam off the mirror, I have sound check in an hour. Tonight Andrew, Brian Connor and I were going to some bar. But today was basically free, I didn't have any plans which I was okay with.

After months of strict schedules you thank God for one day where you can do whatever you want. I texted my mum to let her know I made it safely and that I miss her.

I wrapped myself in a bath robe and sat on the edge of my bed. It's bittersweet that this tour is almost over... Its my biggest one yet but I have no doubt that my next tour will be even bigger. My phone began ringing and I saw my mums picture

Shawn
Karen (Shawn's mum)

Hi mum!
Hi Shawn, how's Japan?
It's so beautiful, you Liyah and Dad would love it
I wish we could be there for you, we will be watching a livestream!
I wish you could be here too. I can't wait to come home though.
Pickering or Toronto?
Well Both of course but especially Pickering
We'll be waiting, and we can't wait!
I have rehearsals in a bit so I gotta go but I love you guys so much.
We love you more son, kick butt tonight. We're so proud of you.

Hearing my mums voice made me tear up, I miss her so much. I gave myself a moment to just let it all out.

just a few more weeks Shawn, you got this. I had to remind myself.

I pulled myself out of bed and dressed in a simple t-shirt and jeans.

"Hey Shawn, you ready?" Andrew asked knocking on my door

"Yeah, give me a sec" I told him, I grabbed my phone and headed out

We walked down to the lobby and into an Uber, the drive was twenty ish minutes. We thanked the driver and walked in,

The venue managers were standing at the entrance waiting for us.

"Hi Mr. Mendes, I'm the Yokohama stadium manager." She introduced herself then lead us around the stadium

The stage was already set up and my guitars were all waiting for me, I grabbed my favourite one, the light blue. I walked up the stairs leading up to the stage and started lightly strumming as my team began mic-ing me up.

Once they were done I ran through my set list, we'd pause if there was an error which thankfully we didn't have many.

"How's the sound in your earpiece?" One of the sound techs asked

"It's good" I said into the microphone so he could hear me.

I moved to my piano, tonight I was surprising the audience with a new song I wrote. I was going to save it for Toronto but I can't wait. It's called 'Home' Alessia came on stage with me since we sing this one together, I began playing the soft chords on my piano.

"I'm a phoenix in the water
A fish that's learned to fly
And I've always been a daughter
But feathers are meant for the sky
So I'm wishing, wishing further
For the excitement to arrive
It's just I'd rather be causing the chaos
Than laying at the sharp end of this knife" Alessia sang with a smile

"With every small disaster
I'll let the waters still
Take me away to some place real" I sang into the microphone

"'Cause they say home is where your heart is set in stone
Is where you go when you're alone
Is where you go to rest your bones
It's not just where you lay your head
It's not just where you make your bed
As long as we're together, does it matter where we go?" Alessia and I sang together, we finished out the song and my team clapped and cheered

I'm really proud of this song, I wrote it a few weeks ago and I've been itching to play it. If I wait to record and release it I won't be able to preform it until the next tour.

It's about realizing where home it for you, yes for me it's in Canada but it's also here, with my team the people I love.

After we finished with the soundcheck we went out for lunch at a busy cafe. We got a few stares, probably because we stick out like a sore thumb... two tall white guys in Japan isn't very common...
I ordered a coffee and a sandwich

"You excited to sing Home tonight?" Brian asked

"Oh hell yeah. I've been dying to sing it for weeks now. I hope they like it... It's kinda personal you know?" I said

"Like it? They'll love it Shawn! They love when you're super personal with your writing... Like In My Blood... they fucking love it." Brian said reassuring me

"Thanks man" I told him

Brian has been with me through all of this, YouTube, Vine, MagCon touring with Taylor... He's been with me since day 1 and I could never thank him enough.

Once we finished we took a taxi back to the hotel, since it was almost 6 I thought I'd start getting ready since we were going to some club tonight.

A/n: I've prewritten a few chapters! I really like them
