Chapter 20 - TenTen

Ten-Ten was nervous as she made her way to the sealing matrix. Of course she knew that she would be with Neji, which made her happy. However, she wondered what else was in store for her future. When she finally stepped onto the matrix, she channeled chakra to her feet. The seals began to glow blue and the screen reappears on the wall.

The wooded forest was quiet and everything seemed tranquil. All of the animals had seemed to go back into their natural habitats and even the usually rushing waters of the river seemed calm. The night was the night of the full moon and the stars seemed to dance in the darkened sky. Of the stillness of the forest, only ones with great instincts and eyes would be able to catch the two quickly moving blurs.

Those "blurs" were nineteen year olds, Neji Hyuga and Ten-Ten.

"A mission alone together?" Sakura said.

"It wouldn't be a first." Shikamaru replied boredly.

One of the figures, stopped on a tree branch and the other stopped on the same one.

"Let's stop. When we find a clearing, we should be safe tonight." Neji told the girl and Ten-Ten nodded.

"Wow, Ten-Ten. You should let your hair down more often." Ino commented. Surprising, Neji nodded his head in agreement with blonde, causing Ten-Ten to blush.

"Shut it Ino-pig and pay attention" Sakura said to her best-friend.

"Whatever, forehead" Ino said as she rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to the screen.

A tick mark formed on Sakura's head, but she refrained from saying anything, not wanting to interrupt Ten-Ten's projection.

When the duo finally found a clearing, they both jumped down from the tree and landed on the forest floor. They took off their bags and began to set up the tents and stuff for the camp. It was silent as they finished the last touches on the camp. Ten-Ten was about to go start the fire when Neji grabbed her hand and shook his head. Ten-Ten looked slightly confused by this.

"I'll do it, Ten-chan." Neji said as he gave her a small smile. Ten-Ten was about to protest, but halted by his smile. There was also a firmness in eyes as looked at her. She nodded in reply and sat down to watch Neji start the fire.

"My god, can someone say sexual tension." Ino muttered to herself as she watched the scene. This of course, wasn't missed by her father, who just stared at her blankly. The Yamanaka matriarch silently giggled at this, shaking her head at her papa bear's tendencies.

A choked sound came out of Neji's mouth at Ino's comment and he turned to her, sending her a glare. She shrugged her shoulders, not sorry about her comment at all. Neji turned his head back towards the screen.

"Um, Neji-kun....I'm going to go wash off." Ten-Ten told the man and he gave her a nod in reply. She got up and made her way towards the river.

Ten-Ten stood by the calm river in still silence for a few moments before beginning to take off the band around her waist and moving to undo her top.

Ten-Ten was shell-shocked while Shikamaru clicked his tongue.

"I just knew something else embarrassing was going to pop up" Shikamaru stated. Naruto slightly blushed at being caught in his boxers as an adult.

Everyone, but a frozen Ten-Ten, politely turned their head away from the screen. They all turned their head back when they heard the swish of a kunai being thrown.

Ten-Ten's hand was out and in the other hand, she held a kunai. Ten-Ten sighed when she saw a familiar face pop out of the forest.

"My apologies, Ten-Ten. I did not mean to frighten you." Neji apologized, however, there was a slight glint of humor in his eyes.
