The news of Duke Henry's passing spread through the nobility like wildfire. The doctors concluded it was due to his heart giving out, but the Lord and Lady Phantomhive knew it was anything else.
They have decided to blend into the English nobility for a while before they decided to return to Anastasia's domain. Ciel wouldn't feel hunger for another century or so, so they needed some form of entertainment.
Ciel resumed his duty as the Queen's Guard Dog, Anastasia assisted him. The two adopted a human child that Ciel rescued. They found the infant from one of their missions. The child had shared a great resemblance to Ciel and Anastasia which made it easier for them to claim he was their child. The infant was a few months old when they found him, and three years passed by quickly.
"At least you have someone to continue the Phantomhive name." Anastasia told him as they sat together for tea. The two only had tea out of habit and to keep up the pretense of them being a normal noble couple.
"It is rather convenient that the child has light blonde hair like you." Ciel told her before sipping his tea.
"And has cerulean eyes like yours." Anastasia said with a small smile. "But, he is absolutely human. There's no traces of magic or any supernatural being on him."
Ciel shrugged at her. She stood up when she heard the young child who was now 3 years old run to them. Anastasia was using her power to veil their appearance to make humans believe that they were aging.
"Mama!" The child called out to Anastasia who gave the child a smile as she outstretched her arms. The child jumped into her arms giggling happily.
"Hello, Vincent." Anastasia greeted the child who Ciel named after his late father.
The child giggled when Anastasia kissed his chubby cheek. "Mama! I was able to play the song you sing for me!" He excitedly shared. The boy was a natural when it came to piano, and it pleased Ciel that the child was smart.
"Really? How wonderful then." Anastasia said with a warm smile. "Will you greet Papa first?"
The child giggled and nodded excitedly before Anastasia let him down to run to Ciel.
"Papa!" The young child greeted Ciel with a wide smile. Ciel offered him a small smile while patting his small head.
"How was your lesson on writing and reading?" Ciel asked as he placed the child on his lap. He and Anastasia had started to look at the child as their own. Ciel wouldn't admit it but he was protective of the child they took in. If Anastasia and himself were human, their child would look exactly like Vincent.
"I was able to write my name!" The young boy told him proudly. "Even Mama's full name!"
"That's good then." Ciel patted his head softly which made the young child blush since Ciel wasn't that affectionate. The child loved to bask in the affection his parents gave him.
"Papa?" The boy called up to him with wide blue eyes similar to Ciel's.
"Yes, Vincent?" Ciel asked looking at his adopted child.
"Can I please have a dog?" The child asked shyly. Ciel smiled softly remembering his own dog when he was a young human child.
"Of course." Ciel answered making the child smile wildly and hug him excitedly.
"Thank you, Papa!" The child cheered hugging his father who returned his hug briefly before standing up and letting the child stand.
"Your mother and I will accompany you tomorrow to look for a dog you like." Ciel told him as the boy nodded with a wide excited smile. "Now, off you go. I believe your dance lessons will begin soon."
"But, Papa! I hate dance lessons." The child whined making Anastasia laugh. Ciel smirked at the child.
"Your mother will not be happy if you don't attend dance lessons."
The young Vincent pouted but nodded and ran off to the manor. Francine trailing behind him as usual.
"It really amuses me how much he acts like you." Anastasia teased walking to her lover.
"Taking him in wasn't a mistake then." Ciel told Anastasia as he wrapped his arms around her. She laughed and pecked his lips.
"Staying here for a while really did prove amusing." She said as Ciel smirked at her.
"I quite understand now why you and your brother mused about humans."
"Well, we were never human to begin with, so humans have always been a mystery to us." Anastasia told him smugly. "Not everyone has the privilege of suffering as one like you."
Ciel scoffed as she teased him.
"How long will we stay here?" Ciel asked his lover curiously as he led her into the manor.
"Until our little Vincent marries. After that, we get into a sea voyage mishap." Anastasia hummed when she realized where Ciel was leading her to. "You're insatiable, Lord Phantomhive."
Ciel only smirked as he locked the door behind him before pushing the demoness on their bed.
