As we approached the bridge, I heard multiple gasps. Good, be afraid.

"Hailey-" Evie ran up to me and tried to give me a hug, but I put my hand up and stopped her. "No. Look, I'm just here to save your precious friends and leave."

"You don't want to stay with us?"

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Gil and Harry sneaking up from being Evie. Why not make things interesting, shall we?

I stood in the barrier and stalled by saying, "I know when I'm not wanted, Evie. And you all clearly don't want me to stay. Because if you did, we wouldn't be doing this right now."

I slowing stepped out of the barrier and they rolled through.

"We made it bro! Hey, thanks Hailey." He stood up and hugged me. "No problem, Gilly."

"We made it! Hey guys, we're just coming for a wee visit." Harry said. He turned to me. "Hailey."
"Harold." I held my hand out and he shook it.
"I guess you're not too bad after all." "Never was."

"Okay, alright." Carlos stepped between us and separated our hands. "Let's just- let's just calm down, everyone." He said more-so to Harry.

"Hailey, did you let them through?" Mal asked.

"Yeah. I thought, 'Why not spice things up?' Oh, and speaking of spicing things up..." I banged my heel on the bridge three times. "Uh oh!" I fake-tripped and tossed the ember into the water.

"Hailey! No! What did you do? Now it'll loose-" Mal cut herself off when she saw Uma rise up from the water.

"What?" Mal asked softly.

"Drop something?" Me and Uma laughed and she high-fived me with her tentacle.

"Uma!" Harry and Gil exclaimed at the same time.
"That's my name."

"Alright, get up here. I want to see you without tentacles for the first time in a few months." I told her. She smirked and went underwater.

"What- no! Hailey, it'll get wet! What are you doing?" Mal asked.

"Mally, will you relax and let me handle this for once?"

"Hi, boys." Uma said to Harry and Gil as she appeared on the bridge.

Carlos pulled me aside. "What's happening?"
"Just go with it. Me and Uma have become friends over the past few months. She didn't want to be seen, so she would come to me to hang out. She's not as evil as everyone thinks she is." He nodded and kept a tight grip on my hand.

"Alright, idiots. What're we doing, because we're not saving anyone by just standing here and looking pretty."

"Look, Uma. I need that to break a spell." Mal held her hand out for the ember.

"Uh-uh. More loyalty." I said while pointing to myself. I held my hand out and Uma tossed it to me.

"Alright, good. Let's go." Mal and the others started to walk away. I let go of Carlos's hand. "Actually, Uma why don't you hold on to this. I got no pockets." I smirked and tossed it back.

"Hailey!" Mal exclaimed.
"Shush."

Uma looked at it and pretended to think. "Nah, I'm good." And she tossed it back.
"I insist."
"It's all yours."
"It matches your outfit."
"It matches yours better."

We continued to play catch with it until Mal yelled, "Stop! How about neither of you hold it." She turned to Uma and held her hand out again.

She looked at me and I nodded. "Guarantee me that every single villain kid  who wants to, can get off the Isle."

Mal sighed. "I can't do that."

Uma looked at me and I nodded again. "Oh, you can't do that? How about now?" She held the ember over the water.

This wasn't a threat to me, because I could easily restore it. But Mal didn't know that.

"Deal! Deal." Mal kept her hand out, expecting to get the ember, but Uma threw it to me instead. "Oh, you can keep it for now. I don't trust myself." She laughed and caught it.

"Because if you think I trust you to save the word on your own, think again." I told Mal and walked towards the pirates.

"Hailey, why are you siding with her?" Mal asked as Carlos and my three former friends stared at me with sad looks on their faces.

"Oh! Maybe it's because she visited me when I was left alone! Ooh! Or, or, maybe it was because she didn't leave me here to rot. Maybe because she didn't torture me by making me watch her on TV, and seeing her be happy, without me. Maybe it's because she didn't make me feel like she ripped my heart straight out of my chest, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it!" I said with fake happiness, and with real sadness showing towards the end.

Before going over to Uma, I nodded and smiled at Carlos, signaling that I wasn't mad at him.

"She must not be that bad if Hailey is friends with her..." I heard Evie whisper to Mal. "I still don't trust her, E. Even if Hailey does."

Okay.

"Here's a thought." Evie said to everyone, pulling us out of our little groups. "We could try to be friends. Put our history behind us and celebrate our differences. Yeah? Who wants gum? No?"

"Let's go." Uma said.
"No. I'm in charge. Let's go." Mal began to walk away, but I stopped her.

"Nope. Uma has the ember."
"Yeah, because you gave it to her."
"Yeah, because I trust her. C'mon." I took Carlos's hand and led the group.

Wow, it has been a DAY and it's not even 11:30 yet.
