Lennon glowered at the ground as he held his Pokephone against his ear. He should have figured his Dad would do this. This was like him, to get on the phone and force him to talk to that woman. His father had this naive idea that if he could just have the two of them talk to each other, then maybe there could be reconciliation and understanding. His father was always a simple minded man, and was convinced that there was an easy answer for everything. But his father had no idea whatsoever about the true dynamics of the relationship between him and his mother.

Mother. That word made bile rise in his throat.

His father would never know about their dynamic, because that damn simpleton never paid one bit of attention to anything that happened growing up. Or, at worst, absolutely ignored it. He did not deserve one inkling of an explanation. He deserved the stress that his and his mother's relationship gave him.

So, if getting through one pointless, awkward conversation would help Lennon continue his slow-burning revenge, then so be it.

"So, are you going to harass me today? If so, let's just get this over with so we can both go on with our lives."

"Oh, shut the hell up, Lennon. You and that smart mouth of yours is going to get you in trouble eventually." His mother's voice, as per usual, was filled with venom.

Lennon rolled his eyes, and sighed. The conversation tended to always go the same way. "Whatever, Mom. I guess I'll log that away for later. It'll never change, you being an insufferable bitch."

Lennon was definitely his mother's least favorite child, and she made sure everyone knew it. His two other siblings were more than happy to fall over and do whatever she commanded. They were complete brainwashed idiots. He used to be that way until one day he'd had enough. Once he stood up for himself, he instantly was made the black sheep of the family. No one stood up for him, no one even tried to understand him or ask why. The women in the family especially berated him for being ungrateful and disrespectful to her. All he had, and all he needed was himself, performance, and his Pokemon.

"Ha, well, 'Bitch' I may be, but nothing is worse than a child who refuses to respect his mother. You should be thankful I even let you go off on your own. If I did not love you, I wouldn't have let you leave in the first place." There she went, trying to manipulate him.

"Love?" Lennon stared down at the ground, a sarcastic laugh escaping his throat. "You're freaking kidding me. If that's really what love is, then I want no part of it. I'd rather live for myself, thank you." Tainted, that's what love was. Illogical, pointless, and tainted. His mother was living proof.

His mother was silent for a moment, taking in his words. "I'm done with you."

"It's about time." Lennon did not waste another moment. He pulled the phone away from his ear, and clicked the 'end call' button, before his mother could say anything else intolerable.

He looked up, and stared across the lobby of the Richland City Pokemon Center. It was pretty empty, save for the Nurse Joy's Audino, who was mopping up the floor. It was happily singing a little ditty to itself as it pushed the mop. "Audinooooo. Audinooooo. Audinoooo."
