Chapter Fifteen: Pyrotad, Explosion, and a Champ

Chapter Fifteen

(9:00 am, the next morning, Richland City, Lyla's home)

"Spoink, use Psychic on me!" Serena called out, spreading her arms out wide. She had been up since seven. Everyone had began their day with a high protein breakfast, and then it was out to the massive backyard to practice. Even Lyla who hated being outside was standing out there in athletic shorts, a tank top, and a messy bun, practicing her routine with her Pokemon: Flitairy, Glaceon, and Masquerain. Serena and the rest of the group thought it was a little strange to see Lyla wearing something other than her usual Lolita outfits.

Serena felt pretty good as Spoink lifted her in the air. They were working on the spot that had caused the fall in the first place, and Spoink was doing wonderfully. When Spoink saw Serena do a back-handspring and cartwheel earlier, he instantly became his energetic self again. He was definitely happy to see that his trainer was okay.

The oils and epsom salts, plus some tylenol that she used the night before were really helping. She definitely did not feel as stiff, and her hip muscles felt as if they could actually move. And, since this routine included a lot of gymnastics on her part, that was a very good thing. She was extremely confident that she would be ready for her routine.

A short ways away, Bonnie too, was working on her routine. Bonnie decided on doing a comedic skit with her Pokemon, with all of them dressed as Jesters. Serena really hoped that Bonnie would be able to show her routine in the final round. Bonnie had been working very hard on every aspect of what she'd be facing in the contest, and it would be a shame if she did not get to perform her little play. Bonnie had been coming up with some pretty impressive combinations in practice to use in the battle rounds, as well as a very cool showcase. For someone just starting out, Bonnie was doing fantastically well so far.

Ash was off on another side of the yard with Mary and Maria. They were doing some practice battling to prepare themselves for their gym challenges here in Richland City. Though Ash was very obviously the stronger one with more experience, Maria and Mary were not to be underestimated. They both had come dangerously close to beating Ash quite a few times. Their schooling definitely helped them greatly in regard to being ready to challenge gyms.

Serena smiled as Spoink lowered her to the ground, and they began to practice the finale of their routine. She took off in a run, and Blossom jumped up on her shoulder. Pancham, Sylveon, and Delphox created a ring of Will O'Wisp, Swift, and Dark Pulse in a large, swirling circle. Serena, before making it to the ring, tossed Blossom into the air, and jumped into a back-handspring, through the sparkling hoop created by her Pokemon. As she did this, Spoink tossed up his pearl to Blossom, to strike it with an Electro-Ball attack.

Serena landed on the other side of the hoop in splits. Then she jumped up with her arms raised to catch Spoink's pearl. As it came toward her, it was glowing pink and gold. A split second before it reached her, Spoink used a Psychic attack to blow the electricity away. At this point, it only left it sparkling as she jumped up in the air to catch it in her hands with ease.

Then, she stepped out to the side with her left foot, spinning the pearl on her finger, turning in a pirouette. The ring behind her began to grow larger and larger, as her Pokemon all moved in closer to her. Then, when they were all standing together, they all jumped in the air while Spoink used his Psychic attack, and Serena tossed back his pearl. Behind her, the swirling hoop exploded, while Sylveon and Blossom used a combined move of Fairy Wind and Thunderbolt that swirled about the explosive sparkles around then. With that, they came back to the ground, and they bowed to finish.

With that, everyone in the backyard began to cheer.

Serena glanced up, and realized that her friends had all paused in what they were doing to watch her and her Pokemon. Her cheeks flushed, and she gave a nervous chuckle. "Ah, um, thanks everyone."
