I woke up with this weird feeling in my chest. I checked the time on my phone - '4:32 AM'. Ugh... how many more nights will i be attached to the pain of my fathers death? Wish i knew... I keep waking repeatedly in the middle of the damn night, thinking of what comes next, like... in my life. Without him. I mean, dad's been my guide. My mentor. For now he's gone and i'm for real terrified.
All i knew is that he's been fighting with mom a lot. Mostly about me. How they wanted a different future for their son. I felt guilty. Days after their biggest and loudest argument, dad left. He didn't come home for days, months even.
I still can review the morning when mom got the most unexpected news. A couple of days ago two policemen's came to our house around 2AM to announce in a cold voice tone that they've found the dead body of my father.
I heard mom crying in the kitchen. I ran up to hug her. The rest of the night we've spent together, drinking hot chocolate and trying to get our minds together.
'Lloyd, from now on everything will be different.' - She said.
A few days later the cops brought us two letters from dad. That was the time when we knew he'd committed suicide. One letter was dedicated to mom, one to me. My note said:
''Son, i'm sorry i've failed you as a father. But i need you to know - i love you. I always did. The thing is, why i was so strict about everything is because i cared. I never wanted you to be like me. Now it's just different. Your mother will take good care of you because that is what she did the most throughout her life since you were born. It will be better this way. Without me around. The truth is... i secretly stole money from several banks. To keep us safe. To buy our house. But now people will know. So i have to leave.
Lloyd, you need to know that you're going to suffer. But it's going to be okay. Because you are THE CHOSEN ONE. You're the green ninja. You have powers that are destined to save people's lives.
I need you and your mother to move to you're uncle. Yes, you have one. Uncle Wu. You have to move to Ninjago city. Go to Ridgeway High where you'll meet people with similar abilities to yours. Trust me. It's time. You're growing up and it is time for you to know that you have powers.
Please, be strong. I know you are. You're... The Only.
