"My favourite part of the day is looking at my clock and seeing six because that means that I only have an hour until work is over." I sighed out and let my hands stretch out, over my desk. The same paper had been in my hand for a while and so the same words flooded my mind and it was driving me up the wall. Just part of the job.
"What about you Nephthys?" I look up from my desk to see that all of my co-workers are stood around me and I sigh out. They clearly had been in conversation for a while as lots of people surrounded me at my desk.
"Sorry, completely just didn't listen." Lucy looked at me with a raised eyebrow and then repeated the same question to me about my night.
"Probably going back to look after Wilbur. He isn't used to being alone for long and I fancy a hug and a solid nap." I took this time to stand and place the paper back into various boxes. My eyes staying busy on my work.
"Wilbur hey, who is this?" Her eyes shone and Lucy held that same mischievous grin that often claimed her face. I loved it about her but she was stubborn so when I wanted to keep something to myself she was the worst person in the world.
"Wilbur doesn't matter. What does matter though is that you tell me if you and Maria are still going out on a date. She is cute, kind and frankly all that you could ever want. If I was also bisexual I would." She was just about to answer when I smirked and she glowered at me but after a second she spoke again.
"Maria and I have our differences but you and that Wilbur seem new to me. Tell me about him." I laugh at the absurd situation and how defensive she was of Maria and herself.
"Wilbur is a cat. Black and a little fat. Just like with Winnie the witch, isn't that right Enyo? Sometimes children's books really do come true." My hands had stopped moving when that voice filled the space and the others all stopped their talk.
"There are many ways to describe you Mr Link but I never had you pegged for casual discussions with your subordinates. Unless of course, you have some reason to let others into my private life. I don't see how my friend's cat has anything to do with the legal services that we provide." I was pushing him and the smirk that claimed his face was new. I hadn't seen that before and it both unnerved me and also turned me on.
Mr Link took this time to leave and head to his office but that meant that I had to deal with the fallout of our icy yet steamy exchange.
"You know, there is a rumour that Mr Link only ever smiles when he is about to get it on with someone." I had lost my thought track when August spoke and for a brief second I wanted it back. Though the group had dispelled mostly aside from Mr Belmont and Lucy. Mr Belmont had moved to his desk though so if we spoke quietly he wouldn't have heard.
"Cute nickname, called you a witch but it was clearly not in a spiteful way and he smiled when you told him off. You did it, you went at it and didn't tell me at all. And here I was thinking we were friends." My hand hit her arm and I used the other had to signal that she needed to silence. Her tone wasn't nearly as quiet as I would have liked.
"Shush. No, we didn't sleep together. He got drunk and I didn't know where he lived so I brought him to my place. Turns out he wasn't as drunk as I thought. Piece of sh..." I was silenced by a disheartened sigh from Lucy and I snickered at her.
"Shut up, now I have a cat to get to and you have to get ready for your date. Love ya but got to leave ya I am afraid. If it goes bad text me where you are or just share your location and I will run if I have to. I don't want to kiss you but if it makes her leave you alone I will kiss your cheek." The blush that ran all the way around her face made me laugh. Nothing of a scared blush as it hit her cheeks though her darker skin hid most of it.
When the time to leave arrived I set to walking. My blasted car was still broken and I lived three miles away and it wouldn't have been so bad but unless I added another mile on I had to walk up a hill and then down it. Not the best thing in the world but it was good for me.
Just as I got to the hill though I felt a familiar ache in my head and I began to feel dizzy and nauseous. The street began to blur and sounds muffled. My head hit something and I felt myself become like pulp on the road. Something was on me and I couldn't tell what it was. No car because it was too cold on me and then I felt hands. Cold hands. Just as I was about to cry though I felt nothing and my mind became as light as it could.
A pounding pain ran through me not long after but it wasn't as bad. My body ached but I sat up slowly and realised that I was in a house I had never been to and the place was boiling. No open windows and all the walls were thick. It was a strange room though as all curtains were pulled, no mirrors seen and there was only one sofa. The one I was on. There was no TV but there was a stand for one. On it though, was something I needed to have an explanation for. It was a bag of blood but it wasn't full.
"H-hello?" I knew it was stupid and I should have just got up and ran home but I didn't know where I was and I also felt too ill to stand. Clearly someone had to of saved me but I don't know what they had saved me from.
"Ah, Nephthys you have woken up." I looked around and saw that Ambrose was stood in the doorway to the kitchen and I relaxed before looking back to the stand and grunting.
"Why do you have a bag of blood? Where did you get it from?" He laughed at me and it was light but the air was so heavy I struggled to breathe and he was so far away that if I had to run I might be able to get out but not for long.
"Don't run away and the blood wasn't stollen from the hospital. A lovely lady donated it to me well, she donated it to the Belmont family and I am the only one who needs it in bags." My eyes sharpened in on him and a grim smile plastered his face but it looked genuine.
"How, how did you know I was going to run and why do people donate blood?" Within a second I felt a body at my side and he was no longer in the frame. A good ten metres must have been covered and yet I didn't see him move.
"She is a blood whore. She gets off on it and well, I need it to live." My eyes stuck to him, he wasn't ill or dying was he? When my eyes met his I realised that they constantly switched between blue and black like he was a new person. His mouth was constantly moving as his jaw seemed to stretch for some reason or another.
"I don't like the word whore and the bloody hell did you do that then? I didn't even see you move." His hands seemed to keep changing from the rough and yet gorgeous ones to thinner ones as the colour from them seemed to grow lighter and darker. I really did hit my head.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Now, we are in my home, obviously but it is dark so I will walk you home. It isn't far I assume and it will only take a split second." I couldn't wrap my head around his words but he lifted me and I was glad he didn't expect me to walk but he wouldn't be able to carry me for a mile or more.
"I live over the hill on Fullham street, you can't carry me home. You are going to hurt something, if not you then me and that cannot be an option." His lips turned into a smile as he seemed to accept my new challenge.
Sure enough he carried me until finally we got to my house. Or the street and it felt like no time had even past. My hands stuck to his neck and his arms were still around me.
"Sorry, I must have fallen asleep. Um, how aren't you sweating?" He didn't speak but moved to a house. It was mine but I wasn't sure how he could have even known that it was mine. I never told him.
"You were hit by a car. Nearly died and if I hadn't gotten to you as quickly as I did you would be dead and now we both know that. Go in and have a bath. You will be all better in the morning." He seemed to be telling me rather than asking or guiding and so I gave him a challenging glare.
"Just tell me how I am alive." He did not want to but with the look in my eyes he must have known that I wasn't about to drop it.
"After work tomorrow I will tell you everything that you want to know." I nodded and walking into my house. His hand did stay with me but at the door he let me go. The walls were used and I shouted back one loud thanks.
