"The feeling I got and it's ooh
It's a cruel summer
and that's what i tell 'em
No Rules in a breakable Heaven but, ooh
its a cruel summer with you."mileven
"Hey loser!" El turned her head towards the familiar voice. A smile breaking across her features.
"Hey Dork." El said as Mike came up to her side. She gripped onto her backpack straps tighter, not really knowing what to do with her hands while she walked along the crowded halls of Hawkins High school.
It was the end of the year, it was time for summer to finally begin. For late night slurpee runs, movie marathons that lasted until dawn, getting high in Mikes basement. El was thrilled and she couldn't wait.
Mike, her best friend, her only friend really, looked up from his feet, nudging her with his elbow. "Are you excited?" He questioned with a quirk of his eyebrow.
"How could i not be. I get to spend the whole entire summer with my best friend." El said nudging him back with a soft smile. His cheeks heated up as he looked back down at his feet.
They were getting closer to the door now, the final ring of the day had just happened.
Signaling that it was in fact the last day of Sophomore year. The two Teens having been tired of the endless month of dragged on school testing.
They had been studying together, trying to figure out a series of complicated Geometry problems and scenarios from Honors Language Arts, a class the two prided themselves in.
They both enjoyed reading and writing various things, Mike stories that he wrote for the class either Sci-Fi thrillers or Sappy Love filled things that El didn't know where they came from.
He always let her read over them, his little editor, she gave him suggestions and corrections where he needed them. El's amazement over the Sci-Fi stories he often wrote never not amazing her.
She often was in awe of his talent that he always failed to recognize, the way he could just stop in mid way down the hallway and have a story idea.
It came so easily to him but she had her suspicions often about his more romantic story lines.
Where had this come from? Was He seeing someone? She often asked herself. But she didn't put too much thought into it seeing as the thought of her only friend with another girl or even just a person that wasn't herself made her fists clench.
In what?
Jealousy?
Envy?
Why was she Jealous? She didn't need to feel that way. There was nothing there, Mike had made that bluntly obvious.
Hasn't He?
She had recalled many drunk and high hazes where they had done things. Sure, they had kissed when they had taken the substances, but sometimes more things had happened. Things that when she remembered she got chills all throughout her body.
She only recalled small pleasurable images and small fearful details. Surely it had meant nothing.
Right?
