White walls. White floor. White ceiling. Passing guards. That was my view. That was my view for several long months and I was begining to mingle with insanity.

My name is Loki. And this is my story.

Everyone has a story. You have a story. Your parents have a story. Your brother, your sister, your best friend, they all have a story. Everyone's story is different. Everyone's story is intermingled with others. And everyone's story is just a chapter in the great saga of the universe.

First off, if you're looking for the stereotypical tale where I meet a nice shield agent, fall in love and get a change of heart you've picked up the wrong book. Now, some of those things happen, and there's some drama here and there, but that's not the point. This is the story of how I found freedom. This is how I learned to apreciate the richness of life. This is how I learned to love humanity for the beautiful thing that it is.

I'll start at the begining I suppose.

.................

I sat in my cell, reading one of the books my mother had sent me when I heard footsteps. Not just any footsteps either, I knew that gait like my anywhere. "Hello brother. Finally decide to visit me on my big day? My, you have reached a new low" I said, not looking up from my book.

Thor stood there with a solemn look on his face. "Our father has decided what should be done with you."

"No, your father has decided how to finally dispose of me." I said holding my finger up.

He sighed. "Loki, don't make this harder than it already is." He crossed his arms in a condescending way.

"Why be it so difficult? I am for the axe aren't I? Soon you'll have the place all to yourself and you won't have me to worry about any more." I retorted with my smart-arse mouth. To be honest I was terrified of the possibility of actually dying. However the more casually I spoke of it, the less daunting the event seemed. But right when those words left my mouth Thor opened the glass wall, grabbed me by the collar, and dragged me out with his brute strength

"What happened to you? Are you so corrupt you can't even see the value of your own life? I thought you dead! I mourned you! We all did! And here you are, unphased by the thought of dying! Who are you?" Thor got a firm hold on my collar and held me up against the cold stone wall. It was digging into my wounded back but I didn't flynch. By now I was used to torture and not much could phase me. I said nothing in response, just stared him dead in the eyes, a blank expression on my face.

Eventually he sighed, put my wrists in chains, and made me lead the way to the throne room where I assumed  Odin was waiting for me. The guards took me once we got to the doors and brought me fastened more chains around me. They went from my neck to my waist and down to my ankles. I didn't resist, but I did smirk at them. They were obviously doing this not only to give the appearance of control, but also because they were scared of me. They had good reason to be.

After they finished chaining my up like some sort of animal, we continued inside. Odin sat there with a blank expression. 'Time to face my fate' I thought. I stepped up to the base of the throne and knelt down reluctantly. I kept my gaze to the ground. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of looking me in the eyes when he delivered my sentence. "Loki, Laufey's son, you have betrayed the crown, tried to conquer midguard, and killed thousands. Your crimes are countless and unforgivable and, by all means, require a death sentence."

I rolled my eyes. 'He's got to make a show of everything.' I thought. He continued.

"I've debated what to do with you for a while now and I eventually decided on today being the last day of your life." There it was. The confirmation of what I expected all along.

"If I'm for the axe then for mercy's sake just hurry up and swing it." I said rolling my eyes and finally looking at him.

"Because!" He said, starting to lose his temper. "As much as it displeases me to say it, you're not dying today." I'm sure my eyebrow shot to the roof in confusion. If I'm not to be executed what more does he have in store for me?

"Don't get me wrong. You're essentially a useless eater in our prison and you would be more use to us dead than alive. However, someone seems to see potential in you, and has requested you be released to thier custody. You'll be sent down to earth to work the ground until your custodian decides otherwise." My anger began to rise at his words and I took a step forward.

"Is this some scheme to prolong my miserable life? Is this supposed to be some action of mercy?" I scoffed. "If you were the least bit merciful you'd end me here and now. What kind of scheme is this?" My jaw clenched as I tried to take another step. I was held back by the chains around my waist. "Who in the universe would want me?"

"That's no concern of yours." He answered dismissively. He stood up and descended the steps until he was an arm's length away from me. "I now take from you your power." He reached up and touched my chest with the tips of his fingers and when de did, I felt something leave me. It was as if the wind had been knocked out of my soul. I stumbled back a few steps and at the same time the guards began to pull me away. When I opened my mouth to yell profanities and when I did, one of the guards slapped a spitguard on my mouth. It extended around to the back of my skull and latched in place.

Thor met up with us when the doors closed and dismised the guards. We walked in silence for a while till we got to the rainbow bridge. Thor sighed and eventually spoke up. "Even though you you may think differently, you should know I'm glad that Father spared your life." I gave a huff and rolled my eyes. The sentiment of this bloke will surely be his downfall. "Loki what happened to you? I used to be able to trust you, we used to fight alongside each other, we used to be brothers." I rolled my eyes and kept pace. No use in trying to combat emotion.

When we got to the golden dome at the end of the bridge Heimdell slid his sword into the slot in the middle, and the machine whirled to life. He, no doubt, already knew where to send me.

Thor pushed me forward, towards the colorful portal. I tried to resist but it was truely half-hearted. There was no point. He then spun me around to face him, looked me in the eyes. "Whoever's problem you are now, tell them to bring my brother back." And with that he shoved me into the portal and the golden world of Asguard disappeared into a swirl of cosmos.
