Curbing the danger can sometimes lead one to drown in deeper waters.

Y/n was dressed in a rather plain outfit, but at least he was wearing his (f/c) shirt. Honestly, he was hoping it would bring him some luck today. One wrong move and everyone would potentially end up dead or seriously injured with the police dragging Akihiko off to god knew where. In a word: Y/n was a tad high-strung. He ran a hand through his (h/l) (h/c) locks.
He was by the library patiently waiting for Akihiko — or anyone really. Y/n, bless him, arrived extra extra early. Just in case.
Y/n was honestly surprised Akihiko wasn't already frothing at the mouth, waiting for "his Miho". That guy had issues — but it wasn't anything new. Y/n was merely holding onto the hope that Akihiko could one day be curbed from his dangerous (not to mention homicidal) urges. Really, Y/n was that much of an idealist. I may as well be, he shrugged. He didn't exactly have much choice in the matter.
The first to arrive after him was actually Miho and her round-faced friend from a few days ago. They saw Y/n already there and lifted their hands to wave.
"Hi Y/n," Miho greeted with a saccharine smile.
Y/n silently saw himself etching his epitaph onto his tombstone, but he smiled back nevertheless, "Hey Miho."
"Here lies Y/n," his fantasy tombstone read. "Actually dumb enough to smile at a girl who's being stalked by an absolute crazy person."
Oh and, Y/n added, "Killed by his best friend for life~"
"Let's go in and get a few tables," Miho sweetly suggested and Y/n nearly hung himself for reaching out to grab her arm. Please, please, please don't let Akihiko be in visual distance.
"Actually," he gave her a sheepish smile and rubbed the back of his neck, "can I talk to you for a second?"
"Oh," Miho sent her friend a look.
"I'll go on ahead," her friend flashed them both a wave before hopping up the steps. The door dragged as she let herself in.
"Sure," Miho finished and Y/n dropped his hand from her arm.
"Er — I hope you don't mind but I invited someone from Class A."
"Oh no, of course not. The more the better!" she assuaged Y/n's concerns with a cheerful demeanor and a pair of rosy cheeks. She peered at him with crystalline eyes the color of Tiger's Eye. "Who did you invite?"
"Errrr... Akihiko..." Y/n mumbled. Miho's eyes brightened.
"Oh yeah, I forgot you guys were friends. You always seem so close!" she gushed.
Well, she doesn't seem bothered... Y/n gave her a twitchy smile, "Right, well, let's head in... Uh."
Y/n felt his heart stutter when he caught sight of Akihiko some ways away at a crosswalk. Cars and pedestrians obscured the view; Akihiko's dark visage winking out of sight every few milliseconds. His face was unnervingly blank, but he wasn't reaching into any pockets yet.
Y/n swallowed, "Never mind... I'll catch up with you in a second..."
"Okay!" Miho headed inside, bounding up the steps. Y/n watched the door shut behind her and when he turned around —
"Oh lord," he pressed a fist to his chest as Akihiko was right there on the bottom step not even a yard away.
Akihiko's dark eyes remained unchanged but his lips twitched, "You seem jumpy."
