Six Hours Before...
Y/n is an... idiot, Akihiko thought as he ran a hand through his fixed-up hair self-consciously. He was eyeing himself in the bakery window's reflection. Miho was looking at the selection of sweets not five feet behind him.
The first thing Miho had done was giggle at the neatness of his combed hair. Akihiko was ready to strangle Y/n right then and there — well, until Miho called him handsome to follow it up. Y/n is an idiot, but a useful idiot, the dark-haired boy conceded.
Even Y/n's meal-shopping-bakery date plan was a hit with Miho. She looked... so entirely happy. With me. It was everything Akihiko had wanted from the moment he laid eyes on the girl.
...Miho was happily perusing the pastries in the bakery Akihiko suggested they stop at. But really, it was Y/n's idea.
"She likes sweet things."
It grated on Akihiko. The fact Y/n knew that before he did. Why would the other boy even need to know anything about —
Wait.
Wait, why am I thinking about Y/n on a date with Miho?!
Akihiko rapidly switched his attention back to Miho, sweet Miho. He approached her as she drew a finger along a display of little cakes. She glanced over at Akihiko and smiled. The black-haired boy felt his heart swell. That's right, Akihiko felt himself sigh with relief. Only Miho could make him feel.
"I can't decide," she looked miserably back at the display.
Akihiko stared at her until he could hear Y/n's voice in his head: "Remember, glancing at them is cute but staring is creepy!" Akihiko could even imagine Y/n's cheeky grin.
Damnit Y/n, Akihiko snapped out of his thoughts. He shook his head as if to physically dislodge the thoughts of the other boy. Why was Akihiko thinking of Y/n so much lately? Miho was right beside him! And it wasn't like he and Y/n were actually friends... except they were, weren't they...?
Y/n acts like it, but I would kill Y/n without a second thought. How's that for friendship — Akihiko paused, heart stuttering over the frustrating realization that his thoughts somehow returned to Y/n. Again.
I don't care about Y/n or his vapid claim of friendship!
"Which ones are you deciding between?" Akihiko asked her, simultaneously drawing himself firmly out of his uncontrollable thoughts and sending a glare to another potential customer who glanced Miho's way. Akihiko's expression was sweet as he turned back to hear the girl's answer.
She nibbled on her lip and pointed at each cake, "The lemon cake and the strawberry cake."
Akihiko grinned sweetly, "Let's get both then!"
"Oh no!" she immediately denied. "I couldn't eat all of that cake..." Miho then slid sly eyes toward her date, "We could share."
She cutely blushed. Akihiko was enamored. His vision narrowed and it was like Miho was the only thing he could see in the whole entire world. That's what Miho does to me. She becomes my whole world.
"Y/n told me you liked ice cream!"
Akihiko snapped back to reality as Y/n's name of all names fell from Miho's lips. His mind screeched to a halt from its loving Miho tirade. Y/n was just determined to haunt him. Akihiko blamed himself — and Y/n. They had been spending too much time together. That was all. Maybe I should kill him... Miho drew his attention back with a dainty touch on his arm.
