There is only one cure for an obsession: acquiring another.

Akihiko faked his sleep. Like he could sleep. Not after what happened today. He just... he just couldn't control himself. His eyes squeezed shut and he curled further into the blanket Y/n had given him.
"I'm here if anything goes wrong."
Akihiko remembered Y/n's insufferable bedhead and irritating words. Like something could go wrong — or so he had thought. Everything went... everything went so wrong. It was all Akihiko could do to remember Y/n's voice; Y/n's words.
"I'm here if anything goes wrong." Dammit, Y/n, Akihiko fist curled tighter around the blanket — the blanket that smelled like Y/n. Everything smelled like Y/n...
It was always Y/n. Why is it him? Akihiko helplessly thought. Why is it only him that doesn't care what I'm really like? I mean, he cares... That was evident in the way Y/n would always try to stop Akihiko from acting on any of his impulses, but Y/n never immediately tried to reach for the phone to call the police. Never tried to lock him up like Akihiko was crazy.
Hell, Akihiko thought with a watery look to the unfamiliar living room bathed in darkness. Y/n treated him painfully normal. He was always slinging his arm around Akihiko's shoulders and going on about everything. Everything Akihiko didn't care about.
Akihiko felt... normal around Y/n. He was always irritated, always threatening that (h/c) idiot, and shoving him off tree limbs, but that was his normal. He had always been so severely two-faced. Until, until Y/n came along and saw both faces. Then, he only had one. The irritated, uncaring, obsessed side of him. The real him. Akihiko was simply himself around Y/n — and Y/n didn't care.
Y/n took it all in stride.
Akihiko squeezed his eyes further shut and tried to stop thinking about the other boy. No, no, no. He couldn't. His head couldn't start filling up with Y/n. Not again. How was it Y/n always ended up distracting Akihiko...? He shouldn't be distracted; he shouldn't be thinking about him. Y/n isn't Miho... Akihiko tried to argue with himself. I should only think about Miho... Y/n isn't Miho.
That was the wrong argument to make.
Memories of Y/n suddenly flashed through Akihiko's mind.
— Akihiko stalking Y/n in the halls, making sure the other hadn't breathed a word of what Akihiko truly was —
— Y/n showing up to a basketball game for the first time, sending Akihiko a sly wink from his place in the bleachers —
— Y/n sharing his lunch with him — throwing his arm around him — laughing with him — stalking Miho with him, undoubtedly disturbed but willing to do this with Akihiko —
The memories came faster, Akihiko felt like he was hyperventilating.
— The first time Y/n called them friends — Y/n walking him home — Y/n speaking with Miho, touching Miho's arm outside of the library —
No, Akihiko moaned. Y/n should only willingly touch me. The resulting heat that curled in his stomach shocked Akihiko out of his streaming thoughts. His eyes whipped open to meet the dark room.
What...? He blankly stared. What... what am I thinking? No, he tried to deny the heat pulling taunt deep in his gut. Such a... such a familiar feeling...
