"Would you be quiet? You're gonna wake her up!"
"I don't care!"
I peeled my eyes open, closing them instantly from the light.
"Our brother's been pretty busy since he got back, Natalia too. They were in the middle of the shootout at Griddy's and then at Gimble Brothers, that's where Nat got shot." Diego said.
I peeled my eyes back open and looked around to see I was still at Diego's place. Luther and Diego stood before me while Five sat next to me, tracing circles on my arm as he stared up ad Luther and Diego.
"The guys in masks attacked the Academy looking for him." Diego spat, pointing to Five.
"None of which is any of your concern." Five shot back.
"It is now. They just killed my friend, Nat's friend too." Diego said, pointing to me.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, sitting up.
"Hey, how long have you been awake?" Five asked looking to me with a soft expression.
"What are you talking about?" I asked Diego again.
"The two people in masks, they shot Eudora." Diego said, tears evident in his eyes.
Eudora: Diego's on again off again girlfriend and one of my closest friends. I've known Eudora for years, like fresh out of the Academy years. I was the only sibling she met from the family, Diego always said it was because I was the only normal one but there had to be some other reason because only Vanya is normal.
My eyes widened as I stared up at Diego.
"That's not funny." I said sternly.
"She's dead, they shot her." Diego said, glaring at Five.
I shook my head no, feeling tears well up in my eyes.
"Who are they Five?" Luther asked.
"They work for my former employer. A woman called The Handler. She sent them to stop me. Then, as soon as Diego's friend got in their way, well fair game." Five said with a shrug.
"Now they're my fair game." Diego said sternly.
"No, their my next murder." I said getting up from the bed.
"That would be a mistake Tals." Five said, grabbing my arm.
"I don't care." I said looking to Five.
"They've killed people far more dangerous than you." Five pleaded, his brown eyes searching mine.
"Well a lots changed since you left." I said, pulling my arm from his grip.
