TW: mention of cigarettes, sadness idk tell me if there's moreVirgil's POV:
Logan was currently putting our suitcases into the rental car. I had asked if I could say goodbye to my figurative father before we left, of course Logan said yes.
I walked down the hallway, black shadows with orange eyes hanging in my vision. I ignored them. Of course, there was this familiarity about them, but it was mostly likely my peers acting up again.
Torturing me again.
I walked through the hallway, steam pouring out Patton's room. I knocked hesitantly on the door. The last time his room was steaming he and Roman were busy "enjoying themselves."
I knocked again. "Pat? You in there?" The door opened slowly, Roman peering out with red puffy eyes. "Uh- Ro?"
"Pat's fine, it's just one of those days," Roman muttered bitterly. I peeked in the room behind Roman's head, seeing Patton sit on the edge of his bed staring down his wall.
"Are- are you okay, Ro?" He nodded, slowly dragging his hand down his face.
"I'm fine. We're fine, just go enjoy yourself and happy Easter or whatever." He closed the door as I shuttered at Roman's disregard.
It seemed like we, as a whole, were breaking everyday. Patton and Roman were both keeping secrets, but I noticed. I noticed Roman's faraway looks and Patton's flinched and twitching hands.
But they weren't ready to share. Not yet at least.
I walked away from the steaming room towards Logan's room. I entered it and it was a wreck. Destroyed. Papers laid everywhere trampled and covered under clothes and stranded pencils. Crazed writing covered the papers.
I sighed stepping over the stuff and grabbing Logan's smoking patches and mint gum. I paused in front of the mirror, looking at my small figure. I stepped closer to it, touching the mirror.
"What happened to us, Virgil San-" I paused cursing at myself slightly. Sometimes I slipped, like one might do with their own pronouns. "Aelfrun. Virgil Aelfrun." I pulled my black wife-beater down better, tucking it in my jeans kind of.
Honk, honk. I heard Logan press the horn outside, drawing me out of my dream-like state. I shuffled towards the door, looking around his room once more, noticing the small demons with orange eyes staring at me.
Just my mind.
But orange strings shot up from their wrists as they crawled towards me, pushing their black, venom dripping bodies towards me.
They're not real. They're not real.
They disappeared as easily as they came. I opened the door, walking towards the front door and leaving, making sure I had my phone and headphones in my pocket. I climbed into the car silently, trading Logan his patches and gum for his cigarettes.
"You ready, Star?" He muttered, starting the car. It seemed he was nervous as I was, his leg shaking as he drove.
"Ready as I'll ever be."

Roman's POV:
Roman day back down on the bed. Patton's I've had melted some time ago, burning in the steam.
We were opposites. Fire and ice, soft and kind, loud and obnoxious. Two different sides of the same coin. I fiddled with the small box in my pocket, would we work out?
With Deceit and Re-
Tears pooled in my eyes and my heart plunged into those same demons. They were still out, hurting whoever they wanted.
I was alone. No matter how many times Patton cupped my cheek with a goofy smile or how his glasses would always find a way to be askew. I was lost in repeating memories. A screaming brother and pressuring parents.
Because I don't love you. Those words muttered in my ear. Sometimes I could so clearly see him standing there, echoing his words.
I used to blame Virgil for creating an illusion, but I soon realized it was just me. Me and my demons.
Patton laid his head on my shoulder, his soft snores were adorable and distracting.
It didn't matter though.
I was still alone.
