"I love you..."
Kore sits up and rubs her eyes. She must have fallen asleep while looking at the painting
She yawns and looks around confused "Hello?" She asks then listens for the answer
She must have just dreamed it. But she could have sworn she heard someone say I love you
She stands and stretches
That floor definitely didn't feel good
She sighs as she looks at the wall. She sets a hand on the paintings cheek before closing the curtain over it again and walking to the door
She hesitantly reaches out for the door handle. She slowly opens it
Something hard hits her in the face and she stumbles back surprised. She rubs her nose "ouch!" She squeals then looks around for what had hurt her
She gets on her knees and looks around
Under her bed is a round red object. She grabs it and pulls it out
She stands up. It's a pomegranate. She got hit in the face with a pomegranate?
She rolls her eyes and closes her bedroom door. She flops on her bed and looks the pomegranate over
There's a piece of paper stuck to it. She quickly pulls it off and looks it over
6 seeds only you shall eat
Do that and your love you'll meet
More, or less could horribly
Be dressed adorably
Sorry, I couldn't think of anything else to rhyme with horribly
But seriously. 6. Only. ONLY. ONLY!!!
She stares at the note confused. Well at least she knew to eat 6 seeds only. But she had so many questions
Why 6?
Why should she eat this one?
She sighs and sets the note beside her bed. Well at least she knew who it was from
Fancy handwriting, rhyming poem, the mention of fashion?
All in one?
It had Aphrodite written all over it
After thinking for a minute she cracks open the pomegranate and pulls out exactly 6 seeds. She counted it 4 times just in case
She takes a nervous breathe and eats all 6
After swallowing she lays still just waiting
"Hm" she says confused. Must be broken or something. She shrugs and grabs a book
She spends most of the afternoon reading
After a while she starts to feel a little sick. Her head hurts and she's dizzy
She groans and sets down the book hoping it would help. She curls up and pulls her knees to her chest while squeezing her eyes shut
Nothing helps though. What was in the pomegranate?!
She slowly walks out of her room and towards her dad's throne room. Each step makes her feel more sick
She barely gets into the throne room before collapsing
"Kore!" Her dad hops up and pushes the people he was talking to away and hurries to her
He picks her up "Kore. What's wrong?" He asks
She groans and rubs her head "I... I don't feel good, dad"
"Oh no. Apollo!" He says
Apollo hurries over and takes a look at her "oh dear. You've been either blessed or cursed. The intention matters as well. What have you done or eaten recently?"
She squeezes her eyes shut trying to get the dizziness away "I... I've only eaten a pomegranate. And all I've done was read"
"Mind if I look at the pomegranate?" He asks
She waves her hand as if she doesn't care "Sure, sure. It's in my room"
He rushes off and Zeus carries her to a chair and gently sets her down
"Dad? Just for the record I still hate you" Kore says
"Good, cuz I've got a few things to say to you when you're better, young goddess" he says crossing his arms
"Good, good. Glad we're seeing eye to eye on one thing" she says rubbing her forehead
"Kore you can't just march off and spend a few days in the underworld. It's not that simple" he says as he starts to pace
She rolls her eyes "and here we go again"
"You're the goddess of nature not whatever is in that underworld. You have to do your duty even if you don't like it. Your mother needs your help even if you don't like it or want to. You have a place and must stay in it" he continues
"Dad. Did you love Mom?" She asks
He looks shocked "I... Uh well Kore I've loved a few woman"
She rolls her eyes "a few to say the least"
He kneels in front of her "Kore, love is a tricky trap. It's like a Venus flytrap. It's not necessarily attractive then you get hooked and next thing you know you're stuck. Don't mess with love, Kore"
She frowns "Dad. I love Hades"
He looks at her shocked "Wh-... Absolutely not. Kore I don't think you know how... How ... Kore he's the king of the underworld. I made him that because there's obviously something wrong with him. I had to keep him somewhere while making him think he was a king of sorts"
She gasps and stands up "You tricked him!?" She shreaks and suddenly her eyes turn flaming firey red "Why would you do such an evil thing!? Why I should.." the fire vanishes from her eyes and she falls to her knees
She holds her head feeling so dizzy and lightheaded
"Kore!" He kneels beside her
Apollo runs in "There was definitely something in that pomegranate. Good or bad, I don't know. And I have no cure"
She groans and holds her head before looking up "Aphrodite! Aphrodite I need you!"
Zeus looks at her confused "If Apollo couldn't do anything then surely she can't help at all"
Aphrodite appears and gasps at the sight "Oh dear!! I forgot to add you have to go straight to the underworld"
Kore groans "Ugh! Aphrodite!"
She smiles sheepishly "Oopsy" she disappears as fast as she came
Apollo helps her up "Come on. We've got to go"
She nods but Zeus grabs her shoulder "Where do you think you're going?"
"Dad I have too" Kore says
"She's right. It could be horrible"
Zeus finally agrees and they take her into the underworld. As soon as she takes a breathe of that air she feels better. Each second there is helping
