Persephone is awoken by the sound of a knock on her door

She groans and slowly sits up. While rubbing her eyes she answers the knock "Yes?" Her sleepy voice calls out to whoever is on the other side of the door

"15 minutes till the souls start coming in. I'll be starting shortly after that" a deep cold voice says that she recognizes to be Hades

She smiles "Thank you, I'll be out soon" she says before standing. The sheet that was a makeshift paint dress slips off her and flutters to the floor

She blushes a little and the sudden nudity. Although it was only her and no one could see she was just a little embarrassed. She quickly walks to the bed from the soft plush chair she slept in the night before

Although there was no sun some form of lift was streaming through the small windows on the walls that shinned brighter then before as it reflected off the newly painted white walls

She grabs her tunic and pulls it on. She rearranges her hair to a large braid with some of her red hair sweeping across her face. Of course, as always, she was beautiful. She was a goddess. It was just natural

She walks to the doors and pushes them open just enough to walk through then closes it. She walks down a hall that led back to the throne room she walked in just the day before

As she's standing at the top of the stairs she sees Hades talking with what would seem like a demon

He almost looking like a human. But he was massively strong and had almost red skin. His brown curly hair covered up some of his horns but most stick out on the top of his head. He wasn't wearing a shirt, just some tight blue jeans

When his eyes looked up at me, I saw his sharp green eyes look right into hers. He grins a twisted grin. But nothing like Hades' smile. Though Hades' smile was very twisted it was cute and almost nice

There was something she found calming about it. And she liked that. A heated blush grows on her face as this thought enters her mind

Do I like Hades? I couldn't possibly like him. I've only been here a day. Plus he's the god of the underworld. He's got trouble written all over him. Even his cute smirk

She blushes even more as she tries to shake this thought from her head

"Persephone" Hades voice calls out

She hurries down the stairs and walks to him "Yes?" She says Looking up at him for his answer

He grins a little "Little one, this is Lucifer. He's my right hand demon and Earth's trickster"

She blushes a little at the odd nickname "N-nice to meet you" she says to Lucifer

He grins at her once again "Hey beautiful"

She stares at the demon surprised before blushing once again "Th-thank you...?" She says although it comes out as more of a question

He gently takes her hand and steps forward "Mmmm, fleur. Your skin is très soft and-...."

A strong big hand rests on her left hip and pulls her back till her back hits a solid chest. She looks up and rests her head against the chest

Hades icey blue eyes are looking down at her before looking at Lucifer "We've discussed enough for now, Lucifer. You can leave now"

Lucifer makes a low growling noise in the back of his throat as he glares at Hades

Suddenly black smoke begins to surround Lucifer, covering him til he's almost out of sight. Then suddenly flames burst through the floor and swallow Lucifer. Then all the smoke, flames and even Lucifer disappear

She stares at the ground frightened and surprised

"Little one, are you alright?" Hades asks as he uses her hip to turn her around to face him

She nods softly "Yes" she answers quietly "Just a little surprised. He'll be alright, won't he?" She asks

"Of course he will. He's a demon, you can't burn them. He could stand in a fireplace for hours and come out looking better then ever" he explains while pushing some of the hair that's fallen from her braid away from her cheek

She blushes and smiles "Oh that's good"

His blue eyes stare at her for a while just taking in ever detail of her face and some of her body till there's a knock at the big castle door. He doesn't look up from his focus on her face but says "They're here, we should begin"

She gently bites her lower lip and blushes under his harsh stare "I suppose so"

He looks at her just a minute more before he lets go of her and walks to his throne. He sits down and gestures for her to sit on the backless stool beside him

After she's taken her seat Hades stomps on the floor twice and the door opens. Many spirits like the ones she saw in the river come in. It was easy to tell they were all dead

It was as if in a minute Hades had seen every one of the happenings in this souls life, no matter how long it was. He nods softly "You've done good, you've served your master like you should and were honest" Hades says "But before you died, you had lied about the very last thing you did for your master. For that you will be sent to the internal fire"

At was as if the soul had turned pale with fear "B-but, l-..Lord. I was trying to protect my master. I've done all good in ever other way" the soul pleads

"Enough! You've been sentenced to eternal fir-..." Hades begins

"Wait!" Persephone interrupts "Hades wait! There must be an explanation. This man seemed to have been a excellent one. Surely he could be forgiven. Was what he did so wrong?" She asks

Hades glares at Persephone for a minute before turning his harsh glare to the trembling soul "Explain why you told false information to your earth master" he demands

The trembling soul struggles to say "See, Lord, my master had asked me if I had stole a small amount of money from him. And I said I didn't Becau-...."

"You stole and lied, then the eternal fire isn't enough" Hades says making the soul even more scared

Persephone sets her hand on one of Hades cold large hands "Let him finish" she says softly, more as a request and not a demand

Hades looks at her then get hand that is on his "Very well, continue" he says turning to the soul

"Thank you Lord, thank you goddess" the soul says relived before continuing "Yes I lied after stealing but it was because master had forgotten to pay a man for the necklace he made for my masters wife. I took some money and payed for it before the man could get any angrier about the wait. I was only trying to save my masters hide and his dignity"

Persephone looks at Hades he is starting at the floor very deep in thought "Well," he says after a while "You seem to be very good at serving"

The soul nods "Yes, Lord. I love to serve, it's my purpose"

"Then you will be serving me here, I am in need of a new cook" Hades says

The soul seems to smile "thank you Lord"

Hades nods and the soul disappears. He looks at Persephone "Did you know? Did you know there was good behind that act?"

She blushes a little "I was not certain but why would someone spend their whole life doing good and serving someone just to throw it all away on the edge of death while knowing what comes next?"

He gives a small nod "Yes, that would seem to make sense"

Persephone smiles softly

The next few hours are the same process being repeated over and over. Although Persephone never found it boring
