"Okay Dad! I'm on my way!" Y/n quickly scrambled over Inko Midoriya's couch, slipping on her coat as she went. "Yessss, I promise! I'm walking down the block."
She paused as she listened for her father's reply.
"Okay, see ya in a couple minutes! Bye!" She hung up the phone and sighed, "Ma, Zu, I've got to go!" Y/n called from the door as she mashed her feet into her sneakers.
"Stay safe, honey! Look before you cross the street!" Inko called from the kitchen. Izuku flipped Y/n a small wave from the living room's rickety armchair. Y/n returned it with a smile, slipping out of the apartment.
She had barely made it a block before the van pulled up. It was shiny and black, spray-painted with a badly stenciled music note and a cartoonish cat silhouette. The sliding door opened, and Y/n hopped inside, swinging the door shut behind her. Inside the van was seemingly all Y/n's family owned, including all of their instruments and once-stray kittens. She shifted through the junk, nestling into a small spot of free seat space.
"So, what's with the urgent pickup?"
~~~~~~~~~~
"Alright, Let me get this straight. You-" Y/n pointed at Aizawa, "- got us a written warning from the apartment building because the landlord walked in on you feeding your 13 cats. Also, why was I not aware we were supposed to be living in a pet-free building?"
Both of her fathers shrugged, Aizawa brushing a tear from his cheek.
"And YOU-" Y/n continued, pointing at Hizashi now, "- got us evicted because you threw Dad's favourite cat, Princess Wobblewhiskers, down the laundry chute?" Her face was once of frustrated disbelief, much like the expression of the mother of a misbehaving toddler. Aizawa sniffled, stifling a sob. "So, we have to live in the van until we find a new apartment?"
"Yes," Came Hizashi Yamada's meek reply from the front seat.
Y/n swivelled her head, tallying the many cat carriers littering the van's remaining seats.
"Oi! Where's Princess Wobble-Whiskers?" Y/n asked, noticing the sparkly pink kennel was missing.
"Up here w-w-w-ith me-e-e" Aizawa sobbed, dabbing the running eyeliner from his face.
After a quick check-in at the vet, Princess Wobble-Whiskers was cleared of any suspected injury.
~~~~~~~~~~
3 days of life in the van passed. Y/n stayed mostly at the Midoriyas', as they didn't mind, and she couldn't take the overpowering stench of spoiled juice-pouches and cat accidents.
Currently, Y/n was stalking around a staged apartment as her father's inspected it for lease.
"As I was saying," The realtor prompted, licking her smile-stretched lips, "This apartment is actually two connected apartments. Fortunately, both are unoccupied, pet friendly, and come with fully-functional kitchenettes. If you were to purchase both apartments, I could possibly offer you a discount," She trailed off, eyeing the Yamada's expectantly.
Almost at once, Aizawa and Hizashi huddled, talking it over.
"But, if not, you'll have to contact the residents office to have the door sealed from either-"
"We'll take them both." Aizawa cut her off.
"Perfect!" The agent licked her too-white teeth, handing the rental agreement to Aizawa to sign.
"Great," Y/n rubbed the bridge of her nose, "Now we're gonna be broke and there's space for more cats. Aizawa's gonna have a field day,"
Aizawa smacked the back of her head softly, an evil grin creeping onto his face
"At least they have a gym for all that training you've been skipping lately~" He rubbed his hands together.
"Hah, this is gonna be a great summer break," Y/n gritted her teeth, rubbing the back of her head.
