Chaeyoung woke up peacefully, and in a good mood.  It was a Saturday morning, so she wasn't rudely jolted awake by her alarm like she usually was on a school day.

She got ready at a leisurely pace before making her way downstairs for breakfast.  But when Chaeyoung arrived, she saw her father and Mina about to leave the house. They were all dressed up in fancy clothes too: her dad was wearing a suit and tie, and Mina looked stunning in her long silk dress.  Chaeyoung tried not to stare since her dad was right there.

"Are you going somewhere?"  Chaeyoung asked them. She was slightly hurt that Mina didn't tell her about this, whatever this was.  It wasn't like Mina was obliged to tell her, but still... ugh. This was so confusing.

"Yes," Changmin replied.  "I'm taking your mother to my office.  My company is hosting a celebratory event for a new campaign, and lots of clients and investors are coming."

"Oh," Chaeyoung said.  Honestly, she zoned out after hearing the word 'company'.  She never understood any of her father's work jargon.

"I'll be back before lunchtime," Mina added, looking straight at Chaeyoung.

"You're not staying for the function?"  Changmin asked Mina, putting a hand around her waist.  Chaeyoung flinched, a sick feeling burning her throat. She knew Mina didn't have any feelings for him, and she also knew they were technically married, but it still hurt.  The young, irrational part of her brain was screaming, 'I'm the only one who should be allowed to touch her like that'.

Chaeyoung quickly fixed her facial expression.

Mina shook her head.  "I have a lot of things to do around the house, I'm sorry.  And my online call with the support technician is in the early afternoon."

Support technician?  Chaeyoung had no idea what Mina was talking about now.  It wasn't the right time to ask, though.

"Okay," Changmin nodded.  "It's good enough for me that you're showing up."

Chaeyoung had to look away.  She couldn't stand seeing her father's lovesick smiles directed towards Mina.  It wasn't a nice sight.

Chaeyoung began shuffling towards the kitchen in an attempt to get away from her parents, trying to signal to them to leave, and also because she was getting hungry.  Before they left, though, Mina managed to make Chaeyoung smile once more.

"Bye, Chaeng!"

Hm, maybe it wasn't going to be a bad day after all.

Chaeyoung was feeling bored being in the house all by herself.  She'd gotten used to it, but after meeting Mina, she realised just how much she enjoyed having the company of another person.  She was lonely, and she also had lots of undone homework that she was too lazy to get started on. In times like these, she knew exactly who to turn to.
