Chapter 7 ~ Nightmare Night

It has been a month since Luna and I have started training. Most everypony knows my name, but not who I really am. Some rumors were started to get everypony on edge for when Nightmare Night comes. The rumors state that I will show myself on Nightmare Night beside Nightmare Moon's side. Luna has weakened the ring so much, that it is basicly just a decration now. It's left on to keep Celestia happy for now. I still live with Rarity and Luna hasn't left yet. The black ring stall can't be removed by a normal unicorn or dark magic unicorn. It still has to be removed by an alicorn. Everypony thinks I'm a normal earth pony because my horn is always hidden. Tonight, Luna is going to remove the black ring to ready for Nightmare Night tomorrow. I am glad that I will get to wear my armor and original cape. Luna suggested that I apear a couple times in shadow form to scare everypony. It was suggested that I act like I'm just dressing up to be myself. Right now I am helping set up. "What are you going to dress up as?" Mayor mare asks me. "King Sombra. I look close enough to him and my name is close. Are you excited for the real King Sombra to apear tomorrow?" I ask her. "Yes! This will be one of the best Nightmare Nights ever. Have both Nightmare Moon and King Sombra apear will give the ponies something to talk about for a while." She replies. Everypony knows I'm good with levitation even though I seem to be an earth pony. I levitate a streamer up to one of the houses and hang it. "I still don't know ho an earth pony can do that." Mayor Mare says. "Most i know is I can." I reply. I still ear the cape. Nopony knows why though. I managed to cast the same spell I did with my other one on this. It is a spell that keeps it from flying around. Mayor Mare walks off to go do something. "Hey Sombra, can you give me the black streamer?" I hear a voice say. I look up to see Rainbow Dash flying not far above me. I levitate the streamer up to her and head to rarity's. It is getting dark now and I want to go to Rarity's before I go to the old castle. By the time I get there, it is almost completly dark. Once Luna has the moon higher, I can go. I enter and hear the little bell above the door ring as I do. I head to my room and pull out my aromor and cape. I don't put it on, but make sure everything is still as clean and strong as it was when I took it off. Nothing is weak or anything and I return it to were it has been for the past month. I look outside and see the moon is right where it should be. I teleport outside and turn into a shadow and go to the castle. It doesn't take long because in shadow form I can travel a lot faster than in pony form. I enter the throne room and see Luna already there. "Are you ready?" I ask her because she is the one performing the spell and I'm just the victom of the spell. "The question is more of are you ready? The spell is easy, but you are about to be free." Luna says. "Yes." I say and Luna begins the spell. It's basicly a teleportation spell that is harder to do. I feel the ring leave my horn and also feel all the dark magic free of the bonds that were keeping it contained. "Both of us should retun to Ponyille now. Work on hiding you true self. It is showing very mush right now." Luna says and leaves. I nod even though she can't see me and trun into shadow and return to Rarity's. I turn back into a pony right outside and teeported into my room before anypony could see me.

************Small time skip to morning************

I awoke to the sound of onies running aroud downstairs. I get p and go down to see the CMC running around trying to find everything they need for the night. I had put an invisibilty spell on my horn again right before I came down. "High Sombra!" The three of them say once the notice me. I nod and walk outside to go help with te last minute prepareations. I see Derpy bouncing on a dark grey cloud. A bolt of lightning escapes from it and hits the ground. I prepare to redirect the next one so she doesn't accidently destroy the prepareations. As another flys towads the ground. I redirect it to a nearby cloud that has nopony on it. I know that nopony knows that I sometimes redirect derpy's lightning and I plan to keep it that way for now. Derpy spots me and flys down. "Hi Sombra! Thanks for the lightning trick!" She says when she is right above me. Derpy is the one pony that knows this. She goes off to do something else. I start to look for Mayor Mare or anypony that could use some help. "What ya doing?" Pinkie asks as she apear from out of no where. Seeing if anypony needs help with last minute preps." I reply. I have gotten a lot better at hiding my real voice. When nopony other than Rarity or Luna can hear me I talk normal. "Who are you gonna be for Nightmare Night?" Pinkie asks with what seems to be more energy than normal. "King Sombra. Haven't you heard the rumor? He is going to show up tonight." I tell her. "I did! I can't wait for Nightmare Night to begin!" Pinkie exclaims and vanishes. I've gotten used to it and don't mind anymore. "Hey Sombra! Who should I be. A Shadowbolt or Wonderbolt?" Rainbow Dash asks me. "Really? Your asking me that? Shadowbolt of course." I tell her with a 'duh' tone. "I haven't been a Shadowbolt for a while, so, yeah! Thanks!" Rainbow says and zoomz off, most likely to go get the costume on. By the time I find Mayor Mare, it is noon. "Oh1 Sombra. You startled me." She says as I came up behind her. I know that because I felt a very small boost in power when I came up behind her. "Sorry. Anything you need help with?" I ask her. "No, I don't have anything and I think everypony is getting into costumes now. How about you go gets yours on. I think everything is done. All we need is for night to come." She says. I nod and statrt to go back to Rarity's It would would be easier to just teleport, but i'm still trying to not blow my cover. Even though it isn't very good in the first place. I enter Rarity's dress shop. "Hi Sombra. Ready fr Nightmare Night?" She asks. "Very. I get to be free of hiding my identity." I say, speaking normal because I don't feel like hiding my voice. "I amost forgot!" Rarity faked. "Like anypony can forget about a shadow King apearing with Nightmare Moon." I tease. "Go get your costume on. And I'll get mine." She says. "It's not a costume!" I say as I walk to my room. I take the grey cape off and put my red one on. I take the armor for my neck and place it. Some of that piece of armor covers part of the cape. I put on each lower leg armor and hoofguards. And least but not least, I put my crown on. I feel like I have more power with all my armor and cape on. I make sure to continue to hide my horn. I come downstairs and Rarity spots me. "You look really different without your horn when you have your armor on." Rarity comments. "Yeah, I figured that if I want to keep myidentity hidden, then I better make it invisible." I reply to her comment. "Good piont." Rarity says. "I'll go get my costume on now." Rarity says. Right after she leaves, Luna comes in. "I almost think you're going to try taking over Ponyville. We are going to apear near the begining so you don't have to keep your horn hidden any longer. I'll be dressing up as Nightmare Moon, but not in that form of body. Scare them two times and you should be good. Just don't use their short moment of fear to your advantidge." Luna says. "Good. I would really like to stop pretenting to be an earth pny that can levitate." I say Luna runs up to her room and gets into the stuff Nightmare Moon wears. She comes back down in slight armor. Her head has the armor and she still has the thing she wears on her neck and the shoes both her and Celestia wear. Everything is just a few shades lighter than black and those few shades are blue. The moon is going to be risen earlier than normal to make the night last longer. "Let's go see what everypony else is doing." She says. I nod and follow her out of the building and into the town. I see Rainbow come over. "Hey look! We are the villians!" She says loudly and excitedly. "Yeah. A new one has come to join this years Nightmare Night." Luna says, just as excitedly. I see a young colt dressed up as me walk by. "Looks like evrponypony is liking King Sombra." Raindow Dash coments as she sees a few dressed up as me. Soon I get to show everypony who I am. It was only around three in the afternoon. Luna is going to raise the moon at five. Celestia agreed to still a few years ago I guess. Once it is dark, I get to do the first scare of the night. Zecora already agreed to tell the legend of King Sombra. "Hey Sombra!" Pinkie calls. I look around for her and spot her close to the nearest candy booth. "You look a lot like the real thing." She comments, also hiding my identity. Applejack walks up dressed as a scarecrow. "Looks like we have our new legend right here." AJ teases. "How can I be the real thing if I don't even have a horn?" I tease. Rainbow had follwed us as we walked around. Fluttershy comes over with some rabbit ears. "Your a rabbit." I state. Fluutershy nods and says "Rabbits are the best thing to dress up as." I think otherwise though. "Hi Twilight." Rainbow says as Twilight comes over dressed up as Starswirl the bearded. "Does anypony know who I am?" She asks. "Starsirl the bearded." Luna and I say at the same time. "How is it only the ponies that are from a thousand year before know?" She asks. "Mabye because we lived in or close to the time as he did." I say. "Makes sense. I think everypony can't wait for King Sombra to show up with Nightmare Moon." Twilight says. We are all acting like we don't know who he is. Even though I am King Sombra. We talked about Nightmare Night for another two hours. I don't know how we did it though. "Right about time for you to raise the moon." Twilight says to Luna. "That is right Twilight. Why don't all of you go to the platform so Mayor Mare can do her speach before it starts." Luna says. "Scare them as she makes the speach." Luna says loud enough for only me to hear. I nod and follow the ponies to the platorm. I say at the very back and prepare to scare them. It will be easy, just creep up on them in shadow form. Mayor mare beins her speach. Right as she brings Zecora up to tell the legends, I sneak away. When nopony can see me anymore, I turn into shadow and slowly creep up on them. Zecora knows I'm going to scare them. She starts my legend And I get closer, without them noticing. I do the same thing I did for the Crystal Empire. Spread out in smoke and completly circle them. I show my head, green eyes and purple smoke and all. Thy scream and huddle into the center. I get a little closer before vanishing. I return to the same place I had turned into a shadow and become a pony once more. I quickly hide my horn again and sneak back into the scared group of ponies. Zecora says something about going to see the statue of Nightmare Moon. Luna and I agreed that right there would be the best place to give the real scare. Everypony follows Zecora as she leads them to a statue. I sneak of into the Everfree Forest and wait for them to pass. I turn into shadow when I hear the voices getting closer. As they pass, I creep out of the bushes and scare them again. They start to gallop towards Nightmare moons statue. I turn back into a pony and follow close behind them. I notice that everypony has followed Zecora into the forest. I get around behind them and hide behind the statue. They are doing something that I don't know what is and Luna signals for me to get ready. I turn into shadow, but stay hidden. I slowly creep out from behind as Luna takes the form of Nightmare Moon. I stay beside the statue and all the ponies are crouching. Luna makes some sort of light show and when it is over, bth of us are standing there. Both are standing tall and ready to spring into action. I have the signs of pure evil and Luna looks exactly like Nightmare Moon. "You stole my crysstalss." I hiss. The ponies think I really am here to take over Ponyville. I almsot can't keep myself from laughing at how scared their faces look. Luna and i can't contain it any longer and start laughing. Some of the ponies are confused. Luna returns to herself and I stay the same. I hide my horn, normal voice, and signs of true dark magic."This is how you know me." I say and return to normal. "And this is who I am." I say. All the ponies look shocked at this. Both Luna and I jump off the stone that the statue stands on. Luna use some sort of spell to make it dissapear from there for a minute so we can do the grand entrance. I spot Diemond Tiara and Silver Spoon. I walk over to them. "What do you think of this freak now?" I say, with my head level to theirs. Silver Spoon runs, knowing what I did to them last time they called me a freak. "Your still a freak." Diamond Tiara says loudly. Some ponies gasp at this. I raise my head. "Do you know what this freak can do besides turn into a shadw?" I question her. Sh says nothing. "I can make you see your worst fears." I hiss. "But I don't want to waist my magic on a stuck up snob like yourself." I says and walk away from her. "Hi Sombra!" Pinkie yells from somewhere. "Found you Pinkie!" I yell back to her as I spot her jumping up and down. Being taller than most ponies makes it easier to see who is calling to me. All the ponies begin to crown around. "Where you really stuck in ice for a thusand year?" "Did you try to take the Crystal Empire?" "When did you come to Ponyville?" "How did you get to Ponyville?" Many questions were fired at me. I teleported to the statue platform. "Yes, I was stuck in ice fo a thousand years. Tried for the Crystal Empire twice. I arrive in Ponyville about a month ago. How i got hee is after I was defeated a second time, I was imprisoned inside my horn. A traveler found it as he came or went to the Crystal Empire. Princess twilight and her friends revived me. Now I am here. Go have fun on Nightmare Night." I ansered all of the questions that I actually heard and all the ponies began to leave. Luna, Twilight and her friends stayed behind. "Look! Somepony had the nerve to give Diamond Tiara her own medicine!" Rainbow exlaimed. "She needed it. I still want to make her see her worst fear though." I say like it is something realy big to give a fear vision. "Mabye some other time. Right now we have a Nightmare Night to enjoy." Twilight says. We all nod in agreement and start to walk towards Ponyvile. Once we reach it, a foal coes up to me. "Are you going to go back to wearing the gray cape?" He asks me. "No. This is what I am nrmally wearing. I feel more comfortable in my armor." I answer the colt's question. He leaves, happy with his answer. "How am I going to free all the steel ponies? They are being slaved and slaved while everypony just sits around with nothing to do." I ask them. All but Pinkie Pie are still with me. Pinkie ran off to get candy somewhere. "I'll bring it to Celestia. She needs to know this. And You should probably be the one to tell her." Luna replies. "And all of us will come with you to back you up. Maybe Celestia will see what is going on." Twilight says. AJ, RD, Rarity, and Fluttershy agree. "Enough sad talk. Let's have some fun, then discuss this tomorrow." Rarity says, trying to lighten the mood. Luna and I got to play some games. Lots of the ponies want to see me do the fear vision thing. "I can't do it unless somepony wants to see their worst fears." I say for the who-knows-how-many times. Lot's of ponies volentire, but I rufuse, knowing that they will fear me more than ever after I do my fear vision trick. One pony keeps trying to get me to do it to her. "Fine. I'll do it. But she will be dead scared. Just let me tell all of you that I did try to warn you." I say. The mare that really wants it done steps closer to me. I do my trick and end it as soon as I can. I teleported to the edge of town. I sit down and look at the ground, thinking about how much the ponies won't trust me anymore. I hear hoofsteps behind me and ignore them. "Are you alright?" A slightly familiar voice says. "Sort of. I don't know how long it will take to regain everyponies trust." I answer the mare's question.. She gets closer, but stays behind me. "Everypony still trusts you. I pushed you to use your dark magic on me." The mare says. I realize that this is the mare I had used the fear trick on. "They are wondering were you went." I stand up and look at the town. "Thanks for telling me this." I say before teleporting both of us to the middle of town. "King Sombra is back!" A filly screams happily. I look around for Luna. I spot her near a spider toss game thing. I teleport over to her instead of going through the ponies. "I watched you do your fear trick. How did it feel to be spreading fear again." Luna said bitterly. "I did it to make them happy. Did it really look like I enjoyed the power boost?" I asked her. "No." Is all she says. I walk away from her to AppleJack's bobbing for apple booth is. "Why so sad?" She asks me. She must be good at reading expresisons because my face was almost emotionless. "Some ponies decided they really wanted to see me use dark magic on one of them. I didn't want to do it for they would lose their trust in me. That was the first time I didn't enjoy the small boost in power." I explained to Applejack. "Sombra, everypony still trusts you. There is just a lot they don't know about you. Like you getting stronger if there is fear and/or hatred. It's just what you made of." AJ says. "Wait, you get stronger if there is fear or hatred?" A random pony asks who was nearby. The stallion comes closer. "Yes. Not the best thig to be powered by. It's great if you're trying to take over a kingdom. Other than that, I don't care about it." I reply. The stallion walks away. I don't really care what he thinks right now. "You should go tell them a little about yourself. Like your fear ad hatred boost." AJ suggests. "Yeah. Probably time the know who the King of fear is. Thanks AJ." I say. "No problem." AJ replies. I walk to the platform Mayor Mare spoke on earlier. Lots os ponies see me up here and come to the platform, but stay below it. It took a little bit for everypony to gather. "Why did you gather us, King Sombra?" Somepony asks me. "There are some things you should know about me. First, I am not full steel pony. There is ot a full steel pony alive that can do this." I say as I make some crystals grow. "I am half crystal pony." I say. Most everypony looks shocked. "That's not a big thing. I refused to show everypony my fear vision trick because I get stronger if there is fear or hatred. Most of you kept asking, so I gave in and let one pony that wanted to be a victom of fear she her worst fear. Most the time I enjoy a boost in power." I says and someponies fidget. I feel there fear. I look at them and say "I don't enjoy it right now." and some of the ponies don't stop fidgeting. "Would you please stop fidgeting. The more you show you are scared, the easier it is to feel it." I say. They stop fidgeting for the most part. I walk to the edge and jump down. I spot Luna towards the back of the crowd with Twilight and her friends. Some of the ponies from the crowd go off to continue whatever they do on Nightmare Night. "You actually addmitted to being half crystal pony for once." Luna comments. "How do you NOT have a crystal pony coat?" Rarity asked. "I was born without it. The one thing that says I'm crystal pony are my crystals. Everything else is steel pony. And some dark magic. Most steel poniies look like any normal pony, accept for having some sort of grey on their body." I explain the steel pony thing again. "What is everypony doing?" Discord asks, coming from nowhere like Pinkie. "Thinking of a way to destroy you." I say loud enough for only myself to hear. "Talking about different kinds of ponies. Like steel ponies, crystal ponies, normal ponies. You know." Pinkie Pie says with her senselessness. (A/N not sure if it's a word) "Oh I do know. Sombra here has something else hidden." I glare at him. I wonder if he knows about my daughter who is hidden from the world. "What is it?" Twilight asks. "Why don't you ask Sombra." Discord says and leaves. "Do tells us." Rarity says to me. I look to Luna for help. She looks about as worried as I am. Without Twilight or her friends noticing, I cast a telepathy spell. "How are we going to do this?" I ask her through telepathy. "I don't know. Earase their memory to before Discord." Luna suggests. "I'll do just that." I say and don'y bother to cancel the spell. I cast the memory loss spell and act like nothing happened. We all part to go enjoy the rest of Nightmare Night.

Chapter 7! Sorry for taking a while. I had a couple writers blocks when I was writing this. And sorry for not keeping Sombra in tthe super 'I hate everpony' mode. It may seem like this is the end, but I have more planned. See you in the next chapter everypony!
