Sun Rui woke up in shock. Sweat pooled down his face as he breathed heavily, gasping for air. His actions had shocked the maid that kept watch who ran immediately to get the imperial physician.

About twenty minutes later, Empress Xiao strode into the dark room together with Su Li and the imperial physician.

"Wangye! Wangye!" Su Li cried. Beads of tears pitifully flowing down in sorrow. Her hair was in disarray and her clothes looked as if it had been worn for several days. Her beautiful oval face streaked with tears and exhaustion.

She immediately fell upon the feet of the bed Sun Rui laid on, not daring to touch him as the imperial physician held his wrists to check his pulse.

"Wangye! Li'er was so worried! Wangye had been asleep for 5 days and nights, not responding to anyone. Had Wangye died, Li'er would have joined you in the afterlife." Su Li's frail body wracked with sobs really did look pitiful.

Yet, Empress Xiao could not help but frown at her daughter-in-law's high-pitched wails. She remained silent however, waiting for Imperial Physician Luo to finish his assessment.

"His Highness is doing well. His physical and mental exhaustion had led to his body breaking down and seeking the rest he needed. After the 5 days and nights, Wangye is now weakened. He needs to take nutritious soup and blood-replenishing food to heal the body. Wangye, this servant also hopes that you refrain from any... Strenuous activity until you are well again."

Empress Xiao nodded and glanced at Hua-mama, who respectfully passes Imperial Physician Luo a small red pouch.

Imperial Physician Luo bowed deeper taking a step back, not daring to look at the proffered pouch.

To be rewarded is more of a bane than a boon when you are dealing with the Royal Family.

"This servant does not dare. This servant is merely doing his job."

"Imperial Physician Luo had took the time out of this busy period to see bengong's son, bengong is deeply grateful. Please accept this gift."

At long last, Imperial Physician Luo took the pouch, still keeping his head low and left to give his pescription to the attending servants.

Su Li was still at the foot of the bed, sobbing pitifully, not daring to come near until Sun Rui calls for her. She could not see his expression under the shadow of the bed roof but felt fearful in her heart.

Silence reigned in what felt like long agonising seconds.

"I want..."

The usually robust manly voice now sounded low and hoarse, an emotionless tone ringing in his words.

The figure on the bed cleared his throat.

"Soup. This prince wants to drink soup."

Immediately Su Li quickly got up, tears spilling once more, as she grasped the white silk handkerchief in her hands that had been crumpled greatly under her assault.

"Wangye. Wangye! This wife will make some soup for you! Li'er will boil your favourite gingseng black chicken soup." Su Li gasps her words with a small smile, like cherry blossoms blooming in spring, her hand trying to grasp the hand on the bed.

Yet, Sun Rui eluded her.

"Lotus root soup. Benwang wants lotus root soup."

Su Li felt lightning strike her. What soup was that?
